Yeah last year the farmers markets were on, not sure if they are on the nats weekend this year

I can't think of anywhere else really, dubbo isn't a raging metropolis so there aren't many car parks around

i'll keep my eye out and see if anything pops up, normally i wouldn't pay much attention to a large bitumen area,

Tho i would avoid anything too far west of the macquarie river

Cheers for the help with finding a location for the motorkhana. We would prefer bitumen over grass for 2 reasons: 1) with the effort a lot of people put in to the presentation of their cars they may not be happy competing on dirt (especially if it has been raining), and 2) the owners of the grassed area may not be happy with it being torn up by cars. With shopping centre carparks, we would need to find one that doesn't have sunday trading, and we would need to be able to cordon it off (if traffic can access it it would be considered a public road). If there are any factories within the area they may let us use their carparking area, as most would be closed over the break.

Cheers, Ian (on behalf of ToyotaCarClub.net.)

Well, I'm more on the demand side of the event than the supply side ... so who's got their accomodation sorted? Where should I park up?

If my budget works out, I will be going. Haven't had the best of luck trying the last few years, but aiming to get down this time.

Hope to be there once more for another fun Easter fingers crossed the motorkhana finds a suitable home - I sat the drags out last year purely because it's just too boring driving a straight line in my car..

GoogleEarth over Dubbo and surrounding areas?

I'm surprised I mean getting the nats to Dubbo surely drums up some local business? I mean we practically book out The Matilda for 3-4 days solid, surely the council can cut us some slack for an increase in the local economy for a few days.

I mean the carwash, dominos, wherever we have our dinner, caterers, bottle shops, everyone profits and all we want to do is have a good time...I just don't get it, maybe they don't like cars....

Just an idea from a person who doesn't have time to scour the maps themselves at the moment...

    Tradition.
If you remember there was an attempt to change the tradition that wasn't so well received... it's not so much about what you do there, it's more about "there" and who with...

Yup, a few years ago Tamworth was an attempted venue, I'm not sure why it didn't work out, but the year it moved it didn't happen.

Tamworth was looked at because they actually had a 1/4 mile, which was quite appealing.

Dubbo this year for sure, but after that, who knows?

Is dirt good for the 1/4 mile?? This is a long shot but I'm between experiments so I thought I'd do a quick google of "old air strips" and found this: http://australia.shopsafe.com.au/att..._bar_beach.htm

"Unique aspect of this beach is that it`s located alongside a heritage listed airstrip so that flying enthusiasts can fly into an airstrip and then go to the beach.

No idea if it is true or not, but rumours have to start somewhere

Booked a room yesterday, stocking up on beer now, I might need someone to take my bags though as beer takes preference..... :-p

On a more serious note re: 1/8 drags, would it be possible to go through, if additional sponsors were sought to assist with the financial side of things. It seems to me that this is the only issue stopping this event from going ahead.
