Default part # for 15/16 master cylinder?

    hi folks,

am rebuilding a 15/16 master cylinder for the MZ10 and am going to order a seal kit for it. Bore appears to be stainless or at least well looked after so I'm going to re-kit it myself.

am just hoping someone has rebuilt one recently and knows what part/kit number to order (there is a local autopro up here in Maleny, otherwise i'll go down to Cabulture or Nambour).

    cheers and tia,
    Charles.

    Charles,

I'm also in need of a seal kit (Z12 -> Same as MA61)! SMS me with a price when you are shopping... I'll just need the 4 seals that go on the pistons......

If you don't have luck finding a kit let me know and I'll go looking.

I'd try this mob / brand first:
    http://www.mcxtrading.com.au/

That was where my affordable MA61 rear calliper rebuild seals came from! (Via Brakes Plus @ Capalaba)

    Cheers

    K8276

That's the PBR part number for ma61 brake master cylinder rebuild kit, apparently this is the same as an mz11 (different to mz10?) according to toyota EPC.

It's a major kit, so probably comes as a new piston with new seals attached and would have a significantly bigger price tag than a kit with just the seals alone.

ATAP also list K8276 as a major kit (e.g. seals and pistons). They had one kit in their Adelaide warehouse, no idea about what their distributors had.

fwiw: the Kawana ABS store said $185 for he major kit or for just over $300, they'd supply a new M/C

MCX (Wilbo's link) have a seal kit for these and it's part KX492X - have ordered one set in and am waiting for a price.

If you wanted a complete MC, the ATAP part # for the "assembly" is JB1569 for MA61, JB1493 for RA60/65 & SA63).

Interestingly, the MX73 and MX123 which both have a similar diameter MC lists a minor kit part # K1011X - a number of others also refer to it (YH Dyna).

the seal kit KX492X is the same as K7594X (as advised by MCX BrakeParts) and it was a shelf item - $25 for a small bag with 5 seals in it (from ABS in Kawana Waters).

I'll have to find a few new copper washers for re-assembly and use some cleaners to remove old gunk and rust on the exterior of the cylinder, but this will be the cheapest MC rebuild I've done ($25 plus $10 diesel to go collect it).

just thought i'd update this with some related info.

re-sleeving (with stainless steel) a 15/16 MC costs $80 (from a workshop in Nambour)
Tradetools sell 2 kinds of brake hones, smallest (19mm min ID) starts at $20
Supacrap sell a brake hone (does a fair range) at $11 - but similar if not so robust as the TradeTools item.

Don't worry about the copper washers. If you are really worried, heat them up to red over a gas stove and let them cool in air.
