Apparently you can use the actual stick part from the later celica.

I know one of the guys here put a st205 shifter into his st185 for sporty drive
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

you can make one up yourself using maybe 30 mins - 1 hour of your time and a little welding (or get someone to weld it for you for a few bucks), materials needed should cost <$2

I've done the weld method, but i made it a bit too long but done properly it works fine.
i now have the ST205 unit in my car and it works a charm

i have one of them actually.. i think they're from Hong Kong... not the best, it's only a few (2 or 3) inches shorter than the stock stick, and barely an inch shorter at the bottom connecting end.. the biggest difference was from the bush kit, which sits where the linkages change the gears at the gearbox itself.. the gear change was more precise and less "shaky" when going through the gears..

oddly though my stick is tilted more toward the driver side.. and first looks like third, and fifth almost touches the driver's seat..
