Default Christmas Cruise and BBQ, SATURDAY December 8

    Christmas Cruise and BBQ

departing Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens at 10:15-30am.

destination: Venue will be Baroon Pocket Dam (Montville)

BYO bbq food and utensils - we'll have the club bbq in case there's no free bbq spots.

Bring your swimming gear as it’ll be hot - hopefuly the dam will be fit to swim in.

Open to other clubs and forums and there will be an organised photo-shoot after we all arrive.

Route maps wil be available at the start of the run and posted on the club web site a few days before the drive

This cruise will run a bit like a Navigation Run – if you want to have some fun with your co-driver learning about some kinds of Navigation Run instructions (photo and map chase), contact the organisers (me) to confirm numbers. The drive will include some hilly bits (Mt Cootha, Mt Mee, etc) for those keen on a driving challenge.

Those with no navigator or not wanting to follow competition-style directions, we’ll provide a simple map for getting to the destination.

update2: seeing as the dentists.. . i mean Cressida owners are going to the Coast on this date, we're changing back to SATURDAY 8th December.

did a route check with Lance last night (well, as far as landsborough as it started to rain and the wipers on the shitbox applausedont work real well).

With all the recent rain, the dam should be full and the roads fairly clean.

For those interested, there Navigation Run route (what we tested) includes some nice winding bitumen roads (taken at road-safe speeds).

For those just wanting to meet up the route's basically up to the highway (carseldine) then the Landsborough exit to go up to Montvill via Palmwoods instead of Maleny.

looks like I won't make it to the meetup spot in the morning, but I'm gonna try and get to baroon pocket dam on my own later in the day - might be a fun adventure anyway.
