Do you run an AFM or MAP?

Mine does the hunt - vaccum is fine - TPS is shagged

205 are map sensored, afm ftl.

When i took the coolant lines off my TB, and cleaned out out real well the idle is now quite nice (as nice as it can be with largish cams that have some advance and retard on them.
give that a crack, take that little bugger off and give it a jolly good clean.

If it's map sensored, the computer won't be diving up and down from a vac leak.
It'll just sit nice and constant.

With an AFM, they don't generally hunt, unless it's the tiniest issue, at which point, they usully hunt between 500 - 1300RPM.

Will definitely check the TPS, amongst other things. Assuming the wiring is fine, the general consensus appears to suggest the likely culprits are going to be dirty TB/ISC or something to do with TPS.

To outline why it isn't likely to be a vacuum issue:
1. MAP sensor so the leak would need to be after TB
2. a vacuum leak would alter the idle, but not have the engine hunt (right?)
3. tried leaking 1 vacuum line in the TB and didn't make a difference

2. a vacuum leak would alter the idle, but not have the engine hunt (right?) if the tps is adjusted correctly then it will hit the idle rev limiter so YES (a seperate function to the normal rev limiter)
3. tried leaking 1 vacuum line in the TB and didn't make a difference that would indicate a large vac leak or an iscv malfunction

when you say you unplugged the idle control valve does this mean the air hose or the electrical plug?

if it was the air hose then try blocking the iscv with your finger to see if the idle drops
alternatively if you unplug the wires and it does nothing that could mean A its clogged with shite or Bits incorrectly wired.

if any of the engine breathers aren't connected it may be drawing air through the pcv?

Just a quick update. Problem fixed. Had to adjust the TPS.

Now onto troubleshooting other probs...
