Default 4AGE info, where to find?

    Hey guys,

I'm new onto the Toyota scene (although owning an AW11 back in UK for a few months).

Just wondering where i can find technical information on the 4AGE engines, in particular the 4AGZE.

Possibly the complete workshop manual for the AW11?

I'm moving over from Nissan's (need a break from them for awhile). I like the more obscure cars doing them up into former glory or just going crazy on them. I build my own engines and do all the work myself except for spraying but I'm in the process of learning that too!

Any help will be greatly appreciated or by some miracle this forum has a person like myself and knows all the specs of their favorite engine please feel free to post them up.

Bore, stroke, valve clearance, valve diameter, CAM specs, CFM ratings, injector sizes and compression ratios.

Also any differences between the blocks/heads of the GE and GZE such as a crank girdle, piston oil squirters, larger oil sump, higher rated oil pump or anything else that may differ.

    Cheers,
    Craig.

P.S. I'll go back to searching the web!

Twincam.org is probably the best place as far as forums go purely for the A-series engine and cars that it was used in, although most of the more knowledgable people from there are on here as well

There is an old Toymods link with heaps of specs, like clearances, torque specs etc that I found useful.

I cant seem to grab it off that link, it just downloads a shortcut

Billzilla... hello and many thanks for your time and effort making those few pages of golden info!

Just a quick question, has anyone stroked a 4AGE? Even just enough to square up the motor a bit more? I believe it would make it a bit more rev happy!

There's some info here on the "5A-GE" which is a poor description of a stroked 4A-GE (I say poor description because the 5A engine is actually a 1500cc engine hence a "true" 5A-GE would be of less displacement than a 4A-GE). There's also some 7A-GE info there and here on the forum there's a thread myne started which discusses using a 7A block to make the rod/stroke ratio more square.

EDIT: I should say myne's thread refers to the ideal rod stroke ratio which may not be square.

how do you figure making stroke longer, adn rod ratio worse, will make it more rev happy?

It may not be the case with Toyotas??? Hence why i'm asking.

The squarer a Nissan engine the more rev speed/ power & torque production it has.

Usually you'd sacrifice some torque to make power or visa versa, but my belief is that a square engine is a good medium.

I'm not saying at all that im right here, just simply asking others if they KNOW or have info on the matter?!

you my son, are on drugs
the rod/stroke ratio with respect to rev happiness is constant across ALL engines.
