I ran these last track day and was well impressed.

I'm debating whether to do my rear disc brake conversion before October 1. Just risky in case it goes awry and takes longer than expected.

Narada got back to me last night so I'm all paid up and done

Did he mention the number of places free? I will try get in on this one as well

There looks like bit of a controlled catagory beign set up by the Circut Club guys, and first of october would be the first event. Everybody on Nankang NS-2's I'm tempted to try this out.

I'm unclear on what happens if you're not on Nankangs?

Nothing too offical, More just a fun competition to compare times between friends on some cheap rubber. rather than feeling like you need to keep buying semi slicks in order to save face

I already have semi slicks I'd hardly see the value in buying cheaper rubber in order to be welcome - the implication appears to be that unless you have the specific cheaper rubber you won't be entirely welcome. I'd rather confirm that so there's no misunderstanding as the current arrangement is unclear

no no sorry, sorry from what I understand you are more than welcome to run what ever you like. There will be mostly people running the more serious stuff i belive so Poggy Mos I think you will be in good company.

Just a few of them are feeling the pinch in the pocket from buying the more expensive rubber, and they set this idea up as an alternative.

A few of us are getting sick of destroying our multi-million dollar tyres, so have devised a much cheaper idea to compete against each other.

We have decided it takes as much skill to get around the track with crappo tyres, also that said crappo tyres are much less expensive than non-crappo tyres.

After discussions, we have decided on a cheap and easily available tyre (and are open to other suggestions) It looks like Nankang NS-2 fits the bill pretty well. Also with a width limit of 235. This will allow the common sizes of 225/50/16 and 235/45/17, which both can be had for around $120 fitted.

Timing can be either natsoft, or laptimed, or reliable handtimed (sundials not classed as 'reliable')

The only prizes on the table are fame and glory (and possibly bitches)

The idea is that we'll get a bunch of people doing this together at various track days, and it should be a lot of fun with the much evened playing field.
As it goes on we'll collect lap times from all tracks, and will end up with a decent sized "competition"

    Who's interested?

Ditto The only tyre worthy of use on the street is a semi

What do you guys run? where do you get yours from?

I have always thought I would go semis but I have heard some issues with them and their grip varying a lot due to heat cycling. I have also only had 1 track day so I think the tyres arn't my limiting factor at the momment

Narada emailed me back the bank details for depositing the money within 24 hours of me sending off my form. Maybe if you paid by credit card they reply closer to the date perhaps??

Falken Azenis RT215 (superceded by the RT615), cheap from Tempe as they parallel import them. I only persist with the RT215 because the RT615 isn't available in the size I need. I pay $180 - $200 each for 205/50R16

I'll be running Kumho Ecsta V70A tyres again on this day, they worked quite well last time while it was dry

Is that in a 15" Poggy? By proper ones what do you mean? There are seconds or fakes available?
