4AC wiring diagram

as the title says
im looking for a wiring diagram for the 4AC AE86.
from what i saw on the old toymods - they only have one's for 4age sprinters.
i only really need this for the engine bay, so if anyone could help it would be great

What wires are you stumped on? 4AC is hardly a rat's nest of wires. The plug at the back of the engine bay in the middle contains starter, reverse lights, oil gauge, temp gauge wires
Ignition explains itself
The stock charging system stinks, but can be completely ignored anyway - other alternators are much simpler to connect.
That's about all there is to it!

well...
im shit. so if someone can direct me to somewhere that has a wiring diagram for the ignition system - that would be great.
i just want to get this 4ac running.
cheers for the warning about the hoses...but i've already put them back on. its all good.

so yeh - ignition system wiring diagram would be nice.
i know its very basic. i can see. but it would just save the hassle of messing around if i knew exactly where wires go.

brake breather? the brake booster vacuum line you mean? it goes to the only place it could go, the big fitting on one of the inlet manifold primaries. i'd describe which, but i only juist remembered which side the inlet and exhaust manifolds were on (drivers)

all i know about the hoses is that it took me 15 minutes with a pair of pliers to pull them all off (in the conversion process) and i didn't want to put them back on.

Dude it ain't that hard to wire a 4A-C. It's basically just coil, starter solenoid, temp sensor, oil pressure sensor, and the alternator is: big white cable to the knut on the top, then you just need, in the plug, vertical pin on the right is for a 12V current from ignition. The top pin usually just goes straight to the knut on the top on a 4ag, but the 4ac one is externally regulated, so I'd think it would go to the regulator itself. Your easiest bet, if you are wiring a 4ac from scratch, is to go find an AE71 and rip the engine loom out (it's like 6-7 wires), and pull the entire charging setup out. Befuddles me why you would bother.... haha..

Ahhh yes i for got to mention that i have a GZE and therefor crappy manifold!

The place where i was goin to put it is taken up buy the crankcase breather so im still stumped.

As for the 4ac wiring diagram... not possible to get one on paper in this day and age as i ve already tried. Even assuming you got a toyota manual it should have the 4age in it instead AND AE71 manuals dont exist...... just dont quote me on it though

Here is the ignition wiring section of the AE86 body manual.



The 4AC electrical system is amazingly simple. You need ignition 12V to one side of the coil (+ side obviously). The negative side should go to the points in the bottom of the distributor, when they are closed it should be earthed.

It seems that the ballast resistor is in series with the coil when the car is running, but bypassed when it is starting.

Yup, its designed to counteract the large voltage drop when cranking to keep a strong spark
