just fill it with DIFF oil, will slow the leaks, and you will loose 30% power due to THICK OIL, dont FLOG THE CAR, as you wont have the protection of good oil,

clean it down and go for rego,

this is ONLY TEMPORARY. then fix the seals/gaskets asap!

lol @ the diff oil... that shit's mega thick! plus the price, it would be cheaper to just fix the seals than to buy 4L of diff oil

can you see where it is leaking from?

you could try the 20W60 struff for older cars BUT that is to stop it blowing smoke etc... it will still leak out holes and stuff...

if it is leaking at gaskets, clean thearea thoroughly with degreaser, then put a thick smear of silicon sealant ( the black oil resistant type) and that might slow it enough for rego..

if it is leaking from front\rear main seals, maybe thicker oil could help a little...

You could try some of the engine oil thickener/stop smoke (in a small bottle) you can buy from Chickenfeed Auto. I used to use that in my old RA60.

My old, clapped out ra65 used to get 20w60 stuff, then eventually the 25w70 stuff shell had out for a while. it still burnt a little bit, but far less!

generally I recommend people to grab a 20w50 for older 4cyl but if its that bad try a 25w60 or something like that, never had one of the regulars at work come back so far and say that It didnt work

yeah Penrite HPR30 is what I'm using in mine (20W/60) cos the old 3S-GE was burning up the 15W/40 and then the 20W/50 like crazy. this Penrite stuff is pretty good so far, has almost stopped the engine chewing up the oil...

hey, dont laugh...it works .... will STOP any oil leak bsides a hole in the block,

oil leaks, if its that bad, START FROM THE TOP and work your way down,
do the cam cover gaskets, $40 for gaskets $10 for silicon,
    DIZZY 'O' ring, $2.oo

wash down the motor and re-inspect few days later....

they are the main 2 leaks from almost all toyotas, especially the dizzy O ring,

    lol

But is it leaking or burning? Hasn't been asked or mentioned. Thicker oil will slow it burning (and leaking i guess) but so would filling it with water and jelly
