I'm assuming you mean like this linden:

but it doesn't look like there's enough clearance to the strut tower. Chop strut tower?

That would be anti-clockwise, I'd turn it the other direction and run the IC pipe near the cam cover.

    Cheers

Due to the design of the manifold and the position of the strut tower I can't run the intercooler pipe any other way. I'm aware it's far from ideal as is, and believe me I looked into every other option, but there's not much I can do about it.

I actually am thinking about the filter through the bonnet idea. I'm thinking a panel filter and a scoop of some description - might be tricky and will probably look gay but it should work?

I'm going to Willowbank at the end of October so there will be skid pics/vids aplenty. Haven't had it on the dyno yet, probably won't bother until the cams and Haltech are installed.

Just read the whole thread Norbie, good job mate, nice turbo choice Just now the fun part of all the little annoying conversion hurdles, not much room to work with piping and air filter setup.

Mate, it's installed better than most "professionals" can manage. It's been 5 years since the conversion was finished and I've had no major failures or breakdowns, not many people can say that - why do I get shit just because it's not shiny?

Update: cylinder head reco + HKS cam install is scheduled for next week. That leaves me a scant 3-4 weeks to get the fuel and management upgrades done before the drag day! I'm going to be flat out for a while but here's hoping the end result is worth it.

Glad you added that second part I was sitting there thinking oops I struck a nerve...
It's not about shiny - how many of those exposed wires carry high currents? Are they all fused? just suggesting it doesn't take a lot of effort to tidy some things up (but on the other hand you haven't seen my engine bay, coz I'm too ashamed to post pictures of it yet, and I'm too lazy to tidy it up ).
But the kinked hoses - c'mon
I know it doesn't matter - if it fails you will fix it, and the major things have either already failed (eg gearbag) or have been done properly and won't fail. It's built for purpose

All wires are properly spec'd for the current draw and run through fuses and relays. I'm not new to this game you know.

Bah, one slightly kinked hose! Nothing I can do about it for now due to unfortunate positioning of turbo and air filter, but when the cylinder head comes off I'll get the water outlet relocated and it will all look nicer. Also most of that wiring will be gone after the Haltech install which will eliminate the big ugly thermostat block.

It's all about functionality, not looks - and on that count it's solid as a rock. Anyone who disagrees hasn't actually seen the car in the flesh!

Wasn't a comment about appropriately sized wiring, was about the protection offered to those wires ...
I have seen the car in the flesh Don't get me wrong, I know it's done plenty of qld-syd-dubbo etc trips and it probably had less problems than my cars

Just curious what you're intending to do there? Just that single outlet for that hose? tapered tap and barb fitting or something else? (no comments, just curiosity )

I never thought I would hear/read those words from you

I am entered to the same Drag Day As is PSI999 in Aristo, Derek 10 second 1j commo and I think Rorge from PF as well so plenty of JZ powered cars there

We should definitely have a run. Although I am sure you will spank me as I still can't get off the line. Would make for a good race though
