Yeah fumes are the big thing, I hate cars that stink of fuel (eg nearly every VL I've been in).

Sealing off the spare wheel well isn't a bad idea actually. Between the sub and the battery I don't really have useful boot space so I might as well shove a spare wheel in there as well to finish the job.

    said surge tank:

consists of 5" truck exhaust, 3 x old fuel tank outlets bend to suit and brake vacuum fitting off an 18rc manifold

all the metal lines run through grommets in the boot floor.

if youve got a mate handy with oxy and brazing then you can whip something up to any size for practically the cost of gas.

    hello

just needs a mounting bracket made out of a can of baked beans and vibration dampers made out of used condoms and it'd be truly ghetto/macguyver spec

    LOL

I wouldn't have a problem with an abomination like that, but surge tanks are so cheap on eBay these days it's hardly worth the effort of making one unless you happen to have the materials lying around and you're bored.

So I got my manifold back and the wastegate fits nicely... but as I was bolting it together I realised there is NO space for a 3" dump pipe to get past. I can't believe I didn't think about this before!! Well there's a waste of time and money for no reason.

I give up now, I'm not modifying it again - the car is getting trailered to an exhaust shop and they can deal with it.

both are equally true particularly when it comes to fiddly annoying crap like getting all aspects of a dump pipe to line up and fit

Well the car was going to an exhaust shop anyway, I'll just have the added expense of having the manifold altered. It shouldn't be too bad (I hope), it looks like another 90 degree bend before the flange will fix it.

This car wasn't short of traction issues before, was it. Don't get me wrong, i'm all for this, just wanting to clarify. Think you can get wheelspin in all 6 gears now? That was probably the original plan! 3 or 4 gears' worth just wasn't enough, so you bought a V160 and a 35R; bingo, smoke in 6 different ratios...
