GZ20's are imported, so probably not in a lot of catalogs.

can anybody clear this up for me - are there any other toyotas which use the same rear brakes as ma70? (i know that tcr1/2 tarago rotors are the same), but calipers and backing plates also???

    Cheers,

    Peter.

The Taragos tend to be harder to find.

If you need some *A70 calipers and rotors, then im pretty sure that CVAP still have a few

Are these brackets still available anywhere?
I did this upgrade years ago and now have another project I'd like to do the same to.

There was another mod that people started using cause the MA70 brakes were getting rare. Something off of a Nissan I think.

I used R32 rears, but still used MA70 backing plates / handbrake / discs

If i had my time again though I'd do it using an EL falcon or R31 skyline caliper or something. The stuff around with the handbrake drum / backing plates etc is not remotely worth it on a car I have no intention of doing handbrake turns in..

I make these brackets which use the skyline turbo rear twin piston calipers and ma70 rotors:

I looked into the EL/R31 option for my own hilux but by all reports the handbrake is rubbish.
Going to do the skyline conversion on it soon using the ma70 handbrake gear. I've researched plenty of options and this seems like the best way to do it.

So just to clarify, the best setup is the MA70 backing plates, handbrake setup and disc with the Skyline R33 Turbo caliper and your billet adapter bracket?

R32 and R34 calipers can also be used as substitutes?

    Yep that's correct on both
Don't forget you'll need to get the rotor centres bored out to suit the hilux diff

    Yours is what I used

Given the caliper is oriented differently to the ma70 item, the work required to mount the backing plate is different, and a bit painful. I have pics, somewhere...

I have R31 rears on one of my other cars. Yeah, if you want to do motorkhanas, it's not ideal. If all you are doing is using it as a park brake (...as per my hilux) it is more than fine.

These pics will probably only make sense when you try to put it all together - but when you do, it should help.

The work is in modifying the backing plate to bolt to the bearing carrier so that it is oriented correctly for the caliper. This did involve some cutting and welding, which will become apparent when you compare my pics above to the factory ma70 plate. I can't remember why i ended up placing it on the trailing side, I think it was because of the backing plate. This means I switched left to right so the bleed nipple was on top (they're on leading edge on a skyline). Stock brake hard lines worked as is. RN25 Hilux.

Also, you can add z32 300zx calipers to your list. They are also the same, and what I used here.
