    how heavy is your foot??

i averaged 8 to 9 liters per 100 kms on a ST162 with a low kms JDM engine.. this was with a mix of start stop and highway..

a mate who's got an ST185 GT-Four is getting about 12 liters per 100 kms with city and highway..

a long time back my ST-204 was getting 9 liters per 100 kms for city, and about 7 liters per 100 kms for highway..

If they were both stock there would be a bees dick between them.

It will also depend on whether the st162 is an ST or an SX. The ST would use slightly less since it has the 3sfe economy spec motor in it.

fwiw an stock SX will get about 550 - 600km from 50L mixed city and highway driving, so around about 12km/L

not quite ST and SX, but i've found the 4A-FE uses more fuel than the 4A-GE on the same car, bar IRS , strut braces and different interior trim.. this is because the 4A-FE goes through life with half throttle, whereas the 4A-GE would need 1/4 throttle..

i know a guy that's gone interstate with his SC400 1UZ soarer and swears he got 7 liters per 100 kms, cruising at 2000 rpms or so..

Revs aren't entirely relative to fuel consumption though, the engine might be under more load at lower revs and suck through more fuel

The 4afe might not have been running right if it was going through more fuel

don't know about an ST184 (2.2L) but my ST162 gets me about 13km/L and I'll get about 650km's out of it avg.

And another thing . why are there so many tossers out there that bullshit on about what fuel economy there car car gets , allways stating much better figures than what what they really get .
I mean my 7 M cruiser gets 13 LT per hundred on the highway and 20 lt per hundred in the bush 16 lt per hundred around the city . Yes fuels much too dear now but tuff we all have to comply with the prices now .

People love to speak crap about fuel consumption - fact is, if we drive with a bit of a heavy foot at times, we use a bit of fuel. However, I have often found replacing a lazy oxy sensor can be a big help in an older car.

Personally, I've found a 4AF to be thirstier than a 4AG, whereas a 3SF is lighter on fuel than a 3SG. I've also found that 1UZ's are capable of using a bit of fuel when treated accordingly - I can go through 20l/100km of LPG in the Celsior, but that's driving it a lot harder than one of the local offerings to use the same amount of LPG. By density alone, LPG is rough one third worse off than petrol.

Wow that is pretty bad cambelt1, I get 14-16L per 100km in the 1JZ cressy around town. I don't do a lot of freeway driving but I'd estimate on a freeway-only trip it would be around 10-12L per 100km.
