Get in contact with BigWorm, he has an RA23 with a 4A in it and if you ask nicely he may be willing to offer help/advice. I wouldn't try swapping crossmembers if you can avoid it; custom engine mounts to suit the existing crossmember are a more sensible option. Changing the crossmember means you're screwing with the car's suspension geometry and that's a whole world of pitfalls and complications.

As Norbie said, go with the original xmember and change your mounts. Also, I would suggest to sell the 4A and use that money to buy a 3SGE motor... much newer and much better. Make sure you get a rearwheel drive one though.

RWD 3S = newer and better but much expensiver. Given the guy is 15 I think it's safe to assume the budget is tight.

yeah very tight
i still have to get all bodywork finsihed and buy wheels. then interior etc.
Safe to assume you have a few years before you can legally drive it on your own (dont drive a car like that on your Ls... its a bad idea mmmmkay) So, in a few years, workin at maccas and riding your pushbike, you should be able to save the extra for a 3SGE. Well worth it.

hey
ive done this conversion to a ta22, basically you will either need to mod the crossmember or make new mounts i recommend the latter, need a JDM sprinkler bellhousing so you dont have to re route clutch lines, a new tailshaft and exhast as well as bigger front brakes
any other questions just ask
a mate has told me another engine that would be alright and that is the 3t. should bolt straight it.
3T bottom end with 2TG head and timing parts = lots of fun. Best way is to find a 2TG with a spun bearing or something, because you will need to nick a lot of stuff out of the bottom end to fit the head to the 3T block.
