Default Doing it. 1GGZE into RT142 Rona stuff around

Hi all, first post here, could use a little help.

Need any info anyone has on dropping a 1GGZE front sump motor into a 85 (formerly 22re) manual corona Rt142?
Going to have at it this week.
I know the box bolts up, and i hear that the engine mounts are almost bolt in?
Anyone got info on radiator position, engine mount position/type and wiring/conversion tips?

Is there a disc brake rear end from Aus delivered car available for that model, or are drums going to have to stay?

    Thanks in Advance
    -Mick

Mick, not sure on the fitment of the engine but you might have to modify the sump to fit over the cross member. Are you sure the Bellhousing from a 22RE will fit the 1G? Also depending on the postion of the motor you have move the radiator forward to clear the supercharger clutch. What GEN motor have you got, what colour are the plugs that connect into the computer this will help determine what GEN it is? Post some pics of the install as you go along.

I think the corona advanti have the disk brake rear end? Could be wrong. Goodluck with the install and make sure you enjoy yourself!

Advanti diff's have disc brakes on them and are a borgwarner the same as the drum rear end.

Well, had a crack at it today.

Many thanks to Pube for his advice via pm!
Also this is not a avanti. It is a standard drum brake wagon, with no p/s. ugly grey silver too.

Not quite the 'almost a bolt in' that I'd heard it might be.
Cut the radiator support up. Supercharger pulley comes out a long long way.
Engine mounts in the front position are a long way off 85mm or so.
Rear postion would almost fit, however the remaking of many water lines and moving of the fuel filter meant that it was easier to weld new gusseted box sections onto the old mounts to extend them foward.
Engine is now mounted, sits about 45mm towards the left side of the engine bay. this does not look great, but without doing it the factory exhaust manifold would have been trying to go throught the steering assembly.

Problems that are not often mentioned:
-Remove the swaybar, it needs a huuge dip to get around the front sump.
-Cut up the radiator support. The supercharger clutch sticks out a LONG way.
-Move the radiator and aircon condenser foward,(for afforementioned reasons)
-Engine mounts are not bolt in, they are close if you want to remake pipes.
we used the old 22RE mounts and adjusted them.
    - Everything is on the WRONG side! you have to make new clutch line, starter wiring and other bits. 22RE is like a nissan, passenger side exhaust. whereas 1G is not.
-Factory exhaust manifold fouls on steering when motor is straight.

    To Do:
    -Wiring
-Find a radiator 400 x 600 with drivers side bottom hose and right angle on top hose to clear alternator
    -get a new swaybar
-Exhaust crossover to the other side of the car, maybe make a new one.
-move fuse box to clear supercharge pipe
    -make clutch line
-make fuel lines (on wrong side)
    -drive it some......

Tuesday it should be running..... probably means next month but well see
