Default converting 1ggte to single turbo

    howdy pplz

Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on manifold design for bringing the two standard 1g exhaust manifolds together. just wondering how much of a difference it will make having a nice merge collector VS just doing it log style. Im using an IHI RHC6 turbo(wi a weeny little flange) and a 38mm external wastegate.
heres a pic of the space ive got.
my major concearn is that ive got to run the dump pipe down between the two manifolds, which makes a simple Y setup between the two with the turbo sitting centred impossible.

IF YOU WANT TO DO IT ON THE CHEAP, you can go to any exhaust shop, and get them to make you up a Y pipe, converting it to a single,

theres 2 cars on here that use them, EMP? uses a Y pipe and has made 280rwkw, also a kit that i bought and sold on to a dude with a 1ggte rona (sorry forgot your name?) and he has made good power aswell with that 250rwkw...

both of the above use dirty big turbos aswell

you also have a SHITE load of room there...plenty of space for the external gate and turb....

if you really want a excellent setup, go for a custom manifold, they flow better, and bring boost on a bit earlier 100-500rpm sooner...

(speak to 6BOOST) hes a 1g legend on here, lol

a basic log design wont be anybetter than a Y pipe..... Y pipe will be cheaper, and easier than doing a temporary log manifold....

yeah thats one way to do it,

the y pipes ive seen have been straight up from the manifold, but hey its really not gonna make any difference.

make sure you brace that up well, as it wil crack fairly easy with a turbo/dump pipe haning of it and sending vibrations thru it all day long.

    good job

yah, bracing will be predominate. i wanted to run the Y straight up but had limited room with turbo/bonnet and firewall/dump pipe. thanx for the feedback about design

ive just finished the manifold, now im just repairing my wastegate so itll actually open
this is what it looks like, it sits the turbo pretty far forward but it makes all the bends nice and smooth, and gives me heaps of room for the dump pipe(down between the two cast maifolds, and wastegate/screamer which run parrallel with the dump underneath it all
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/Image003.jpg sorry bout the lack of light, im always working on it at night
