    Default sticky dyno results thread

I have seen on other forums where they have a sticky thread relating to dyno charts for a particular engine. Firstly, I know that dynos are tuning tools only but I still think their thread is very useful and could be good here. The only downside I can see is that there are more different types of engines here. Maybe it could be a subsection in tech and conversions -- dyno results?

I just think it would be good to have a central spot to see what sort of power people are making with different engines.

The thread has no chit chat just post a dyno, short mods list, boost level if applicable

    What do you think?

I like the idea, especially if it was as you describe, just a post with the dyno chart, list of applicable mods/info and that's it. People can ask more questions via PM or raise it in another thread if they feel the need.

Just something like the 1/4 mile thread without the chat and excuses would be fine

always more excuses with drag racing than dynos as that involves human ability!

    Proposed template

Please post your dyno graphs only and state the following:
    -Turbo(s)
    -Engine management
    -Boost ran
    -Fuel used
    -significant engine mods

The idea of this thread is to be a quick reference to various turbo's performances on XXXX engine , not to be a discussion thread.

I like the idea, it will become a good resource. Are you thinking of having separate threads for each engine family, or type, how will you break it down?

A subsection under tech is probably a good idea if you're going to end up with several threads for different engines, having them all sticky means it'll get crowded up top, and you risk other stickies not being as prominent.

Umm, this isn't the thread for it

I think a seperate section in tech and a thread for each engine would be best. Keeps it out of the way but easily accessable. And having one engine type in each thread makes it easier for people looking for specific info. on their engine.

    Is this doable?

love this idea...particularly as in time to come there will be a good spread of dyno's and what has been done to get there...so it might stop some of the 'how do i get 400rwkw from my 2j' or some such threads

Assuming the n00bs find them first.

yeah indeed, but it might stop some of them...and at the very least we can just point them to those...thread finished

yeah, that is an added bonus.

It isn't like the conversions section up the top is hard to see in bold though

preliminary list of engines that I could think of that are popular and used often.

    2t/3t
    K series
    4a
    3s
    18r
    1g
    1jz
    3rz
    7m
    2jz
    1uz

I think these ones would have enough numbers to warrant a thread. I don't think we need a 1gz one just yet Maybe soon though. Opinions?

Yeah either a thread, or a whole dedicated section with one thread per motor. Do itttt

Seems like a pretty good idea guys.

I think maybe the way to do this would be to setup a sub forum under tech and conversions for "Dyno results". Make the forum able to be posted to but threads cannot be replied to. That way there will be nice clean threads with just the graph and details. I guess we'd leave the post editable so that it could be updated if need be by the origonal poster to reply to questions from PM etc and to show new results.

What do you guys think of that plan?

Won't that make it so there will be a HEAP of say 1g threads by different people?
I thought it might of been better for a dedicated 1g thread etc?
Your way will defently involve less moderation. I just think it will end up hard to compare and end up just all cluttered?

    just my opinion though.

Yep it will end up with a heap of seperate threads for the same kind of engine but it will keep all of the useless chat out of there. A search for the engine model you're after done on the sub forum should be all you need to do to see what you're after though.
