    Default 3rz into ra28

Looking at dropping 3RZ into the celica.

1st Has it been done before.
2nd How heavey are these motors am i better off doing the 1j converson
3rd It seems like from what i've been reading the 3rz can take a fair bit of boosting on stock internals is this true or are major mods needed to make 350bhp+
4th How expensive are these so far i've been priced around the $3000 mark including ecu.

    Cheers

    1 - nope
2 - they are heavy, and a VERY tall motor, they might not fit under the bonnet
3 - mines taking almost 300kw, with a stock decompressed motor (decompression plate)
4 - i've been quoted $2500 for running engine from local wreckers... basically a halfcut

    I'd got the 1JZ though.

I thought they could be heavy and tall been 4 cyl and 2,7ltrs the stroke must be fairly long., Do they rev fairly hard or start to strain up high.

6000rpm is what my 'stock' motor is spinning too...

Personally i'd love the noise the 1JZ makes over the asthmatic 3RZ

stokexbore is a square 95x95. The 2RZ, which is the 2.4Litre vaiant found in some vans, can happily rev upwards of 6500... And the 1RZ, which isn't as strong in the 2Litre format, can go higher again.

if your serious, look up www.lcengineering.com at there turbo/pro turbo engines. 1200hp in the pro turbo format. also www.paradiseracing.com have a drag celica with a 3RZ in it. With stock head, doing 7's i believe.

They dumped one in a 180sx, so i don't think height should be a problem. Although if anyone knows the height of the 3rz this could be very helpful.
I'm tossing up between 1jz and 3rz for my ta63 celica. Thus far am leaning toward 3rz due to issues with length of the 1jz engine, i'm assuming you won't have this problem tho.

I say be different and go the 3rz.

i think berad said you can make 300-350rwhp with only bolt on mods.

Different was one of the reasons but ability to make serious hp was another. Total hight and length would be a great start.

I got one for about $500. Just the engine though, I didn't want any of the ECU gear.

ARE put a 3RZ into a 180sx yes, but they had to dry sump it to make it fit!

    very quick measurements are
front to back approx 700mm from crank pulley to rear of block
height from bottom of sump(lowest part) to top of intake manifold (highest point) approx 800mm

but you'd need that much clearance anyways, once you take into account cross member clearance, and bonnet clearance...
