wilbo, which route will you be taking on the way down from QLD? I'm interested in joining into this cruise, and some other Celica drivers around this way (a few hours south)... I'm in Ballina, so let me know how you're planning this route.

I know there's two of us here in NSW who are interested in coming along......

I am interested so should be on the maybe list, yeah whats the plan? [timetable]

Edit-more keen now i have learned a little more. Will be ready to tent it but would also look at sharing space and contributing to cost if someone has spare accomadation space?

Will be driving the cressida down so could take a passenger or two.

Was looking at drag racing rules, modified cars require mod plates, steel valve caps on tyres etc etc I supose [hope] its a common sense approach rather than the gestapo???

Just a suggestion but taking a few hours "nanna nap" after work and leaving bris after peak hour could work?

Wilbo-doesnt look like i will have power upgrades in place before then but will be up for some grudge racing anyways.Perhaps you could miss a gear.............

Dust: the event runs from 6-8 April (Friday to Sunday)

Pete: we're probably heading down the thursday night to arrive sometime friday.

    Last year we:
left Brisbane before dark left at about 4pm then ran into peak hour traffic - doh!
    snack-stop in Warwick
arrived in Goondiwindi at about 9:30pm
short dinner stop and complain to no-one-in-particular about state of Qld roads
stop at Morree at about 1:30am for fuel and a few hours sleep
    head off at about 4:00-4:30am
drive thru thick fog after Coonanabarabran (was very weird)
    arrive quite early in Dubbo
walk around the motel carpark for a few hours furiously drinking coffee and yawning.

stopped for a fuel quite few times - mostly for Blake's carbi-powered V8 Supra - everyone else only had 1 or 2 refills only

Yep, details as thechuckster has said!

Andrew162, thechuckster has listed the route that I was planning to take...tho I was thinking it might make sense to sleep for a little longer and miss most of dawn this time around...

Pete, would be good to see you make it along!

    Cheers

I drove to orange from Gymp the other day. we left at 330am, got to orange at about 3in the after noon, so yeah, if you's are keen you's can easly do it in one day, we then turnt around and came back to gymp, got home at 4am.. it was a nice long days drive..

and yes, how much better are nsw roads than QLD?!

Im almost positive my car will be up and running and looking forward to the drive down. Me and another mate in a GT4 are coming for sure. Hopefully muster up some more GT4's before then though

Roughly how many KM's is the drive?

According to my GPS system it is 857km from the Brisbane CBD to the Dubbo CBD with an estimated drive time of 10 hours and 15 minutes.

is that by road maps or "as the Toyota flies"? (straight-line)

I did mine on Google Earth, found GPS co-ord's between my place and Dubbo, and straight-line method gives me just under 600km's or around 371 miles. but by road I reckon it's about 650km or so...
