ok quite a few of the mr2oc.com guys are having the same trouble they seem to think the tacho isnt all that accurate in the aw11....
thoughts???
hey guys any idea what the stock rev limit is on a silvertop 20v
i was under the assumption it was about 8200 or somthing like that
i seem to be hitting the rev limiter at 7400-7500
the 20v has been put into an aw11
would an error code stop the 20v from revving out??
also my spedo cable is broken right now
error code i have atm is 14
anyone able to help with that aswell??? things to check??

get a digital tacho and test it
had one tacho was out 500 rpm
then if yr rpm limit is still below 8000
then theres a trick to get it higher
join spd to #10
this tricks the ecu telling it theres a spd signal incase u dont have one
this worked on a race car so if it doesnt on yrs or anything bad happens not my fault heheheheheehehehehehe
no no... it's because you dont have the SPD signal going into your ECU!!
Without that SPD signal, the ecu thinks you are "free-revving" and limits the rpm to 7600rpm, opposed to the 8200rpm it's supposed to be.
This is about the 4th time i've posted this same information too. Im not sure about the AW11, but on an AE92 w/EFI, the speedo dial generates the 4-pulse/RPM signal to the ECU (purple/white wire)..... thus if yer speedo broken... no signal.

ahhh thought that might have been the case thanks guys
i tried to search but you cant search under 20v or rev so it makes it a tad hard
ill get that speedo cable fixed and then see if that fixes it i know the levin gearbox has an electronic speed sensor while the aw11 has a mechanical one dosent it so hopefully it shouldnt be an issue
otherwise ill try sideshows (he didnt tell me) method
i know the injecotr pulses work its not perfect but if u dont have spd connected easiest spot is to get a pulse from an injector
plus the most pulses u will get to speedo is 8000rpm
so it might think its only doin 150 kms and u night never hit speed cut
the car i tested it on was a hill climb car and they dont get up to 180 to test the speed cut
well im not exactly going to be doing 180km/hr often if ever so no biggy
check if your original ECU wiring has the purple wire (for SPD signal)... im pretty sure it should, it will be coming down from your instrument cluster (it's generated inside your speedo gauge).
Hope you sort it out.

i'm using 20v BT on my ke70, my speedo is stock from ke70 which it's not digital. so, is it ecu doesnt accept any signal ?
how about hooking up a digital speedo/tacho ?
is it possible to hook up a dash speedo from a Levin or similar corolla ?
What is autosalon? Sounds kinda homo.

i sell adapters that screwonto gbox where the ke20 speedo cable would srew on
the unit has 3 wires one is 12 one i searth other is correctg signal to the ecu for spd
then u screw the orig speedo cable onto the adapter and yr speedo works and u have signal to the ecu
or u could connect injector wire to spd
how much you selling it ? is it compatible with t50 gearbox ?
I just tried this but we couldn't get it to work , so I spoke with my auto electrician and he looked at the diagram and said it needs a negative pulse so we just touched the wire on the frame of the buggy at a consistent pulse and we got another 1000 revs, so where did you get the signal from?Originally Posted by sideshow
Any help would be appreciated as we are racing again in a week and the extra revs would be great.
Injectors are also a negative pulse... so Sideshow is right in saying that "in theory, it should work"
There is another solution... a fantastic little guide taken from twincam.info forums.
You can use a reed switch and some magnets... and hey presto! SPD signal
