    Default fan problem

I have a AE80 and recently it has started to over heat... i have flushed the radiator out several times and it still gets hot.
A friend of mine was looking at it and realised that the dual fans on the radiator hadn't turned on.... this seems t be the cause of the problem because they are supposed to come on with the ignition...
I have checked all the fuses and they all appear to be fine.... Can anyone give me some insite into what the problem could be and how i can fix it...
    Dont get mad get money!!

fans are not supposed to com on with ignition, they are supposed to come on when the water is too hot.

do a search, as someone else had a very similar problem.

easy way to check if they work, unplug the thermo switch, the thermo switch is located in the thermostat housing, which you can find by tracing back the bottom radiator hose.

failing that, take your car to a mechanic.

The fans don't come on whenever the key is on, only when the key is on AND the coolant is hot enough. The simplest way to test everything but the switch is to start the car, then pull the plug off the fan switch - the fan(s) should come on then.

I had the same problem on a celica (ST162 me thinks). turns out the relay for the fans had got too hot a sh*t itsself. check the relay out, if its all old and crappy you should replace it.

Try swapping it with another relay and see if the fans kick in.....
