    Default 5me and 5mge differences

Is it possible to run the wiring loom and ecu from a 5me on a 5mge, I spun a bearing in my 5me and have been offered a resonably cheap 5mge without the ecu etc, I have no idea about these engine but Im guession esentially they share the same sensors and injector setup?

    cheers Josh

loom and ecu are different bud... simple answer... nope
If in doubt, drift her out! Steer from the rear! less traction, more action! simple!

Its been done many times using the 5ME EFI on a GE , main thing is to get the 5M dizzy turned down to fit into the GE head , $200 from a engineering shop .

If its an EARLY 5MGE, then the wiring will be plug and play with the 5ME.
If its a late one, then its all completely different.

Early ones will have a square TPS, vacuum advance dizzy, no knock sensors, and twin V belts for the alternator.

alright well i pulled my engine out over the weekend and have started stripping it down, Will be slipping a new set of bearings, rings and gaskets in it, With the plenum theres a fuck load of vacum hoses and setups that im really not sure about, I know the simple idle control and vacum for the fuel pressure reg but is there any need for me to leave all this, In other words can i block off all the crap? Also why on the 5me does a fuel line go from the fuel rail to the to top of the plenum (which isnt the feed or return line from the tank) it makes no sense to me nor does the reason for all this emmisions/vacum hose rig up

That fuel hose should go the the Cold Start Injector (CSI) which is mounted on the top of the intake

If the 5MGE is from the Aussie delivered MX73, then yes the looms are different.
If the 5MGE is from an import (Soarer, Crown, etc) then there is a chance that the looms will be the same.
