    Dave,

Can I put a suggestion of a trip to Wakefield, or dyno day on Monday October 1st too? Personally, i'd prefer the Wakefield excursion, but I'm not sure where, who, how, ...?!

The problem with Wakefield is the inherent risk that goes with making the booking. It's gonna cost $3500-$4000 to hire the track for the day, whether 1 car turns up or 50 do. Garth (GT on here) and some of his mates run regular Wakefield days and he usually puts aside 15 or so spots for toymodders. He has no problems getting feedback from over 15 people that they'll be up for it, but when it comes time to pay the number usually dwindles to 12 or 13. In order to make it economical for the club to run a track day we'd have to get at least 30 starters, paid up prior to the event.

People here are very good at committing and very bad at ponying up the dough, hence the risk

Yep, I have no problem with putting my money where my mouth is, but I understand what you're saying. That said - if there is a chance to either run a Wakfield or Dyno (I'll need AWD dyno though!) Day close to Toyfest day, either as a stand alone event, or with other car clubs - I'm in.

yup... like last year, we will have a few events to make the trip worth while for all the travellers!
Wakefield is a nice idea, but like Matt said, we Toymodders have commitment issues. Over the next few months, we should have a good outline of what will be on the cards, so stay tunned!
We can fall back on a dinner and drags if things don't pan out for something different...

Clint, you may get lucky and they have a general open day at Wakefield Park around that time. They tend to release their schedule 1-2 months in advance so have a look on their website closer to the date http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au

Just a suggestion to the powers that be.
    Regarding the toyofest.
Wouldn't it be an idea to also have a swap meet on the day. ie. sydney siders can bring unwanted car bits for sale. A few tressel tables and maybe you can label your item to be sold. Or sell from your boot. I know by then I will have some items to sell and or need to buy or swap.
This worked well at a car get together at eastern creek years ago.
I bet the boys/girls coming from interstate would love to ge there hands on some of our local parts. They can put them in there hand luggage to look at on the plane home.
    just a thought.

yeh the swap meet sounds pretty good but better off having it in one area off to the side. but then u have to get added security and u's anyone selling items wont get the chance to have a look at the other toyotas in the show. '

A small area to the side will do it. or 2 peaple manning it on a rotating basis, near the BBQ , oh no BBQ, ok.
This would only last probably 2 hours before most things sold.
    just a thought.

    Hi,

I'll talk to the Board about your suggestion, regarding the swap meet.

We need to check if such a thing is possible given the location, as there are shops around and stuff. I know a swap meet should not impose on any local shops, but we need to check first. The reason we cannot have a BBQ is 'cos there are local food shops and we are to use them (for food) and not compete (or take business away) by having a BBQ.

I'll let you know as soon as I get the information.

A swap meet is a good idea but toymods should have a charge for this which might pay for an event or trophy..

$10-20 to sell your parts considering the reason the buyers are there is because of a toymods event.

    Agreed...

In just the same as the way this forum is run, whereby you need to make a valuable contribution in order to use the classifieds, you should contribute to the Toyofest if you wish to sell something there...

    Hi,

I'll hopefully have a stand for my Giggolo business, and will give a percentage of my takings to Toymods.

I know I wouldn't mind paying a small fee for selling bits and pieces of car items, no lounges or household brick brak though.

    The food issue is understandable.

Its just another reason to hang around longer.

Guys... any idea is a good idea, until we find it's not possible. This is an event for the greater Toyota community and we put it on for you. So if there's other ideas out there, please feel free to voice them.

As for the swap meet, as River said, we'll suss it out, and see how visable it is.

    Stay tuned
