Default Wolf 3D V4 Software / Link cable

I'm not sure where to post this but I thought this was the closest to topic.

For those with wolf 3d v4 ems, -- there are 2 different PC link cables. The early wolf used a monitor style connection (15 pin plug) on the Wolf unit that had a 9 pin com port plug that plugged into the back of the PC/laptop. The later version 4 ECU's used a 9 pin 'com port' plug on both ends of the cable. For those with the early v4 wolf (like me) here is how you can make your own cable. (thanks to 10secrx7!!)

pin 2 goes to pin 13
pin 3 goes to pin 14
pin 5 goes to pin 10

Only 3 wires in the cable are used...

Now my problem is wolf no longer support their V4 ecu on their web site, so I can't download the software. if anyone has the PC software for wolf V4 and could email it to me or msn etc it would be much apreciated!! [email protected] thanks!!

Tried emailing, but gmail wont accept .zip attachments by the looks of it.

    It's only 1.4Mb.

OK, thanks to the handy work of Devolutio, a download of the old Wolf software has been found.

It is on this site under "Tools"

And a direct link to the V4 software (right click and save as) is here (it's 1.4Mb)

Also on the "Tools" page there seems to be downloads of older and newer Wolf software versions too.

There is too distinct version of the v4 software the latest one being the best, with more options and 3D graphs/maps etc

I stumbled across this. DV, I no longer have any Wolf software to hand (new computer).

Give Wolf a call though and ask. I think they charge for the V500 software (which works with a V4 too).

Really? I found the V500 software somewhere, I downloaded it, I think is on my old computer. But just assumed it didn't work with the V4

I've never tried myself, but I remember reading on the Wolf site that V500 software was back-compatible to V4. And while they charge for it, I also remember finding another place to download it from....

Sorry for the epic bump but I have a few questions.

Wired this cable up, linked it up but it does not connect to the ECU, I am 100% I have wired the pins correctly as mentioned in the opening post. The car stalls when I plug the laptop in and wont start when it is plugged in.

The wolf lights start flashing funny eg aux in etc start flashing when its plugged in, if I unplug it all is good. The software just keeps saying 'looking for ECU' I have the correct COM port selected and tried various speeds. Is there anything else I need to do? I assume have the cars ignition on is required.

i had epic problems when we were tuning my wolf, it kept stalling the car, rebooting the ecu, dropping sync. sometimes it would take 10-15 attempts just to connect, we got wolf on the phone and they tried to tell us it was a known problem and we had to buy THEIR usb-serial adapter for some rediculous price ...we gave up on tuning it live, and just tried and tried again to get in and update with new data, then dyno, then change stuff, then spend ages trying to get in and save it..then dyno again..took for ever...but since i wasnt paying for dyno time...i sure as hell wasnt gonna pay wolf some ungodly amount for an adapter that probably wouldnt solve the problem.

Yeah Im getting a nistune next week anyway but I wanted to at least have a play before I get rid of this crappy dinosaur ECU. I mean 4 injector drivers max? My 6 cylinder car loves that : /

Dunno why they installed it in the first place, its a bloody down grade.

Batch injection sucks dick. Bad idle, poor economy, hard to tune.
