    Default AE86 4AC air con on a JDM 4AGE

I have read that you can't fit an 4AC air con to a JDM 4AGE Here's how to do it...

Bolt up the compressor and idler pulley from the 4AC, use a belt with a flat bottom V. I used a Dayco Top Cog 15315 (11A0800). The V belt runs OK on the ribbed crankshaft pulley (it finds its own position), and over time and with occasional tightening, the ribbed pulley wears ribs into the bottom of the V. Custom made V/rib belt.
Don't force it... use a larger hammer.
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Why don't you just replace the clutch assembly with a ribbed belt item?!?

This was the setup already on the 4ac when I bought the car. Had done about 30,000k by the time I got round to fitting the 4age, and the a/c was still working fine.

The belt was still OK to go on the 4age, but it was too long for the 4age bracket and I needed a shorter one. In fact when I went to replace the belt for a shorter one, the 2 ribs that had worn in to it looked genuine, and I went looking for an equivalent V belt with 2 ribs to replace it. Don't exist!

I was a full time mechanic (Mitsubishi Master Technician) up to about 7 years ago, so I'm not a newbie at this game, and I was surprised to find a 2 ribbed V belt.

Anyhow, at about $10 a belt, doesn't matter if it only lasts a year. It's only the a/c, so doesn't matter if it breaks.

Car is used for autocross, khanacross and motorkhanas, as well as daily transport so the belt has stood up to extreme use.

Why don't you just replace the clutch assembly with a ribbed belt item?!?
Certainly cheaper and less hassle than chasing up another ribbed clutch assembly and idler pulley
