    Default O2 sensor mz20 7mgte

    hey, i've got a mate that owns an mz20, with 7mgte, and he's after an O2 sensor for it.

    genuine toyota is around $250 or so, and bosch is $70.

    needless to say, he wants to buy the bosch unit, but there's 2 types for the 3-wire sensor.

    one is a 12watt sensor, and the other is an 18watt sensor.

    the question i have, you guessed it, is which one do he buy??

    any help is appreciated.
    cheers

    Its just the size of the heater
    The 18watt heater will draw more current, but heat up quicker than the 12watt heater.

    how far down the exhaust is the sensor.... 18W is more heating power, so it is hapier further down the pipe..
    12W is less power, so it might need to be a little closer....

    that said, either will probably be ok, but being turbo, perhaps extra heat during non-cruise means the lower power one would be better? ... you could try getting in contact with bosch australia tech dept?

    Measure the resistance of the factory ones heater.

    P = 12^2 / R

    Get whatever the factory one is

    The problem is that there wasnt an O2 sensor originally. The owner has gone to buy a 12W one now.
