i don't understand why you don't buy the $5 or whatever flasher can designed for LED'S (ie, electronic flasher can, not the heated strip type).....
cheap compared to the cost and effort of the LED conversion.

it's hard cos the LED7s are rated on axis, but bulbs aren't, so for it to be squeaky legal, need to find the ADR for lights and get it tested.... but answer is lots... not just mcd but also area...
copying existing ones would be a good start
