    Default Full Engine Gasket Sets

I'm looking at getting a complete gasket set as I'm rebuilding my engine at the moment but so far I have only seen ACL ones.

What do people think of using a ACL head gaskets?

Can anyone reccommend other brands that stock complete gasket sets. Even just VRS sets that are good would be nice to know.

I've used a Toyota HG and a Crossfire HG and they both worked pretty well, although Toyota's was much better quality.

    Really?
I just rebuilt my engine using an ACL kit and the head gasket was bang on. Everything lined up sweet. I wonder if they have upgraded it since you did yours?

ive done two one about 3 months ago, one about 18 months ago and i pulled down an engine about 6 months ago that had one in it and all 3 had the hole in the wrong spot.. some love with a file to open it up a little and she is sweet.. infact im sure it works just fine like it is as the engine i pulled down had it in the wrong spot (only half opens up over a water gallery) and worked fine. but compared to thte toyota one it is about 2-3mm out of place.

Well, as long as it doesn't cost as much as my entire engine work it should be good

the 2jz kit is probably about 3-4 times as much as the 4age kit.
I priced one up from Mr Revhead a year or two ago - was round the $200 from memory

I had my engine reconditioned using an ACL head gasket kit. Failed on me 10months later. Just put in a genuine one. They are much better quality just by looking at them.

Could have been heaps of things - poorly maintained cooling system, corroded head, overheating, detonation, poor assembly, etc etc etc etc etc

I'm sorry but you can't just flatly blame the gasket kit.

I got over 100,000 km out of the ACL gasket kit in my old 2TG with not one leak anywhere on the engine. I sold the engine quite some time ago and it's still getting around so I would assume at least 150,000km+.

Im using a ACL gasket on my 7MGTE, and touch wood, its still holding out 6 months later at 10psi boost... there was absolutly no problems with the gasket...

Also installed one on a 1st gen 3SGE about 2 months ago, and it seems to be working fine...
