    cheers all!

in other news, i have the gearbox off, clutch looks in VGC but i may replace it anyway, with a better one, and the flywheel also good but the bolts are of course being bastids, so im working on that, then its off to be redrilled and machined, and then NOTHING CAN STOP MEH!!! *thunder / lightning

What are the dimensions on the 3SGE? (I.e. If you were going to build a square box with the 3SGE and transmission inside what is the smallest the box could be?)

I'm not very good at metric but I know an inch is 25mm, so the S54 is less than 2 Inches high? Or did you mean 40cm high? that would be about 16 inches high which makes more sense.

Nice work! It's a very cool conversion, and it's nice to see someone's conversion going so quickly.

What year model was your motor again?
I've been looking at doing a V6 conversion for years now.

Any idea whether the standard MR2 timing belt engine mount is the same as the front engined models (ie would that custom mount fit into a Celica for example)?

Also curious to know how far out the inlet manifolds sticks out relative to where the original 3S one did.
I think I'm going to have clutch master clearance issues with a V6 in my car.

Keep up the good work & I'm looking forward to seeing it.

3vzfe camry motor in Australia and New Zealand came out between 1992 to 1996. They also uprated the power output I believe in 1994, from (138kw to 149kw claimed) so he has one of the later spec motors.

Yeah, thought so, but I thought the 1MZ came out earlier than that.
My car is a 96, so to be legal in NSW, its easier to have a motor that's same age or newer.

The 1mzfe did come out earlier than that in 1994, its just that we didn't get them in Australia until later in the generation 4 camry in 1997. The avalon was released in 2000 and also had the 1mzfe.

timma is quite correct. i also owned said camry, with a manual box, and decent 215 wide tyres, it was a constant struggle for traction. but thats FF for you i guess.

i have a '96, from a camry. its also in the early ES300 i beleive.

however, at the moment i only have a 93 ECU. the only difference between the 138 and 149kw versions is mapping, so im down on power till i can find the right one / replace with standalone.

the mount i *believe* also drops right in for the celica (ST185, so likely therefore all S series celicas), i will check with the bloke who made it for me, who was incidentally also the guy wo DID get a 3VZ into an ST185, with 4WD intact (see page 1, post #8). not too sure about other cars but its likely to work or require little in the way of modification.

the inlet manifold i cant really say yet, i would say it sits back pretty well in the same spot, as the 3SGE one really only has enough clearance to the rear firewall to account for engine movement, so it cant be any further back than that or people would have reported problems. that said they usually polybush the torque mounts, but hey. we will see, and i will let you know.

hope you can work out the clutch master issues, maybe rig up a mechanical system to relocate the master to a clear spot?

    cheers everyone!
