    gentlemen!

6:52pm, with the gearbox on, the motor was ready for shoving under the car and lifting in!

and 12:10am - the engine is in and sitting on it's two outside mounts! as best i can tell, this is a first for australia!

Hoorah! Excellent work man, i've just read the whole build up. Very impressive.

Quick question, though: How high will these motors rev stock / warmed over?

yup, they cut fuel at 7200.

also, even on stock stock valve springs, they wont float even above that, so with cams they can be made to rev much higher. im not keeping up with the US boards but there are a number ppl on there who were planning to take it to 9k, at least last time i checked.

    thanks dude

no, not yet, i dont imagine brakes will be an issue at this stage, as the car will put out slightly less power than a '90 turbo, and '90 turbo's and '90 aussie N/As have the same brakes.

    - got the driveshafts back in - found they wouldnt go unless you do the long one first, then the small one goes in easily... odd? or just me
    - crossmember back on, all engine mounts now torqued up
    - hubs are both back on, everything torqued except hub-strut bolts, as my torque wrench doesnt go that high. ill take it by the tyre shop down the road when im done.
    - brakes reassembled
    - heater hoses on
    - lower coolant hose sorted (i chopped up the 90' one that was already on that side of the motor, took a few inches off either end and it was perfect to plug straight into the motor
    - upper coolant hose nearly done, ive turned the pipe at the bottom of the car around a bit so that it points up to the right, then chopped the U shaped bit off the end of the hard pipe that normally runs up around the firewall behind the airbox. then attached that to (atm) the long pipe it was orignally attached to, and run it up infront of the alternator. however this is too narrow to get onto the inlet where the cap is. have to figure something here, maybe a new hose to replace it or a short piece of hard pipe in between the inlet and that hose.

throttle cable: i noted that the rear brake cable on my pushbike will be long enough to work if i take it under the cam cover... hehe... it has the advantage of having mounting nuts on both ends, unlike the universal kit i bought, however one end still lacks a lug, so i may yet have to use the clamp bolt that came with said kit to join a lug end to it, so that i can get onto the cruise box.

    ----------------------------------------

    update:

    - upper coolant hose finished, went and bought a similar shaped one in a larger size diameter, all hooked up with padding where it rubs things and new clamps
    - fuel return done, new hose with new clamps
    - fuel feed done, cut the 3S flared bit on an angle as discussed on Oohmatron's thread, yoinked off the 3S feed line, cut the 3VZ flared bit the same, removed shred of remaining fuel hose, popped 3S hose on, crimped it with crimp type clamps (of doom!) and with the fuel filter moved to the top of its bracket the 3S hose reaches with plenty of slack to spare, so no need to change the hose and bugger around with the banjo bolt end. bonus!
    - changed fuel filter
    - clutch line back on
    - gear linkages back on and working
    - speedo drive back on

only one photo here cos most of this stuff is boring anyway:

and thats it atm, working on getting the coolant bottle back in place with the expansion tube, thats my goal for tonight,

tommorow (unless i do it tonight) i will be bleeding the clutch, putting the radiator back together with fans and a new LHS hose, then tidy up in the engine bay and start wiring!
