The turbo housing, piston tops and valves i saw ceramic coated were done by Competition Coatings (Archerfield, Brisbane). The guy who ran the shop used to build motors (as Swift Engine Recos) for HQ racers as well as general engine building work (he did my 18R turbo engine).

i'd love to see/hear about the results of these different mobs coatings.. after a fair amount of use...

bonding ceramic to metal, that will thermally cycle, is not the easiest thing, and can be unreliable...

do the coatings (inside turbo.. inside chamber) stay there for a long time or? how durable? do the current service providers all have equal coatings? or are some really crap/good?

PTWA, plasma transfer wire arc..... or something like that

there is a plasma jet formed at the tip, and the wire is fed into it, so it melts and it flung at medium velocity, where the droplets splat against surface...

a different process to plasma spraying, or HVOF (high velocity oxy fuel?), or other deposition methods.. it is nice and clean...

-Totenkopf-/oldcorollas: no idea about longevity or quality of the job, was on a large T04 (plus other engine bits) attached to a VW drag car engine.

I never went down that route of engine enhancement as i was only going to 12-13psi of boost.

The guy has been in the trade for some time now so i guess it's stable enough for it not to hurt business reputation?
