    Default A43D Auto Trans Mods

Hey all.. I got a hilux with a yet to be Turboed 22r... Converting the 22r to efi with 22re gear etc,, got a garrett T3 a/r .42 turbo (internal gate) a small supra intercooler and also got a 22rte ecu from the the turbo auto USA pickup (hilux).. Bigger injectors from a 4agze, only if it detonates. It is only just to give the old work horse a bit more sting.. I'm not aiming for big numbers, I'll be only running 5psi max of boost. And trying to use all the current running gear on the vehicle.

Anyways I'll get to the point, Just wondering if i can get shift kits, torque converters etc for the A43D box to anticipate the slight power increase... I'm working to a budget because there is also alot other stuff going on with this hilux (Bagged IRS Rear).. I'm pretty sure the same box was in the early to mid 80s supras, coronas even celicas i think.. Any help would be great thanks.

I highly doubt anything is available for the A43D.
It was never a box used for anything serious.

The A340E (the A43D's successor) however has many options.

I've got an MA61 box that was rebuilt a month or so before being replaced with a 1JZ/A340. The guy paid some huge fortune to have it rebuilt, and I think might have had it played with a little bit at the same time. It was done for a 7MGTE, and would probably be quite alright for what you want - if you're interested, PM me.

I haven't yet found a bell housing to use the R-series motor with the 7MGTE auto. Not saying one doesn't exist. If one does I would love to know where to get it

I'm just wondering if the bodgy a43d will handle the power increase of the turbo that is all.. Or should i drive until it dies, then worry about a new box.. haha

It's not a 7M auto, it's the 5M auto that's been used with the 7M. I presume you could swap bits from a 22R auto to make it fit?

The truck is on its second gearbox already.. This one is a fresh one.. I dont want to put a third in it... Just wanted to see if the atuo will handle the (roughly 40%) power increase and if there will be any torque converters or tricks that can be done so it wont shit it self.. lol
