On the note of rims. In QLD, you now need a mod plate to fit different sized rims to light comercials. The early model Falcon rims also fit (XF era I think).

I should have said that I asked John about the Mod Plate but they are not required in NSW. I know my friend's dad, who lives in Qld, has the same conversion and he has a Mod Plate.

    1GGTE ... hmmmmmmm!

I'm really enjoying driving the Lux after finally getting it registered on Thursday. Two black lines out front of my house will attest to that.

Celicaboy, thanks for sharing those photos.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Finally got the Supercharger working today so I celebrated by buying some new rims.

    Wheel specs are:

    Milano Wheels (Made in Japan)

    Inter Milano Voltec Hypers

    17 x 8 front (offset corrected with 25mm spacer)
    17 x 9 rear
    0ffset: 38
    5 stud 114.3 of course

Rears have that nice deep dish lip, also on the fronts but not as pronounced.

Should look the part on the Lux - a little bit of show with the GO!

    Cheers,

Post Re: 1GGZE into an RN85 Hilux Dual Cab 2WD [Beware - lots of pix]

    Hi all,

Sorry but you can't get rid of me that easy. Whilst I have been driving the Lux around town, and enjoying the wheelspin immensely, there are still a few jobs to do before I can finally say "I'm finished".

I'll be ordering the BA slotted rotors soon but in the meantime I went to Western Brake & Steering today to get a wheel alignment.

As it happens they've moved to newer, and bigger, premises. They have a new wheel alignment platform and I was the first person to use it.

I drove the Lux up on the ramps and it was locked down:

The boys at WB&S work their magic. As it turned out the front of the Lux was out by 6 mm. This was soon brought back to spec by adjusting the rod lengths on either side.

The back is clamped up to, and these send info to the alignment computer used to monitor the factory specs.

While the Lux was up I took the opportunity to take a couple of shots underneath.

The exhaust system, showing the Lukey muffler and with the cat further up the line.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Excellent Peter!

I have to ask though, how are you finding the gear ratio?

I find in my lux with the G52, i have to change out of first at about 30km/h, and then second at 50km/h, just wondering if you have found any difference with the new engine.

I like to be doing 50 ish in first, then upto 80 in second.. (to much time driving the ae92 )

My Major concern when i do a conversion will be this...

If i can save many $ and not buy a W58, id love to.. but wanted to hear what the drive was like from soneone that had driven a lux with the right conversion..

    Thanks

Best colour ever Pete, that ute of yours looks awesome to say the least.

Now I know why you liked all the pictures from The Black & White Cookie seeing how many pics you documented in this thread hehe.

One question for ya mate, how does it like towing the trailer and the race-car ?!

    Cheers, Daniel.
