    Default Hilux/ 4runner question

    posting for a mate,

he was driving the other day at 100 for about 15 mins down the freeway.. when he approached his exit and went to downshift the clutch pedal went straight to the floor.. he could change gear but the pedal stayed on the floor.. he had to pull it up manually then pull over...

after 5 mins the pedal was back and all was good..

he says this has happened before when he has been cruising at around 100 before..

guessing it has something to do with heat but im not sure..

    any help would be appreciated..

sorry for sketchy car details, i will get further details if needed, i was a little drunk when he was telling me...

    cheers

is it a hydraulic clutch or a cable clutch?

if its hydraulic check where the lines run? maybe its boiled the fluid? unlikely though..

I'd be having a close visual inspection of the peddal itself, the master cylinder, clutch lines, slave cylinder and clutch fork. Make sure nothing is binding or leaking etc.

Even if the fluid boiled, the peddal should come back up as they normally have a spring of some sort.

    Cheers

Last time I dealt with a car with this problem, the clutch fork was damaged. The circumstances seem identical.
