    Default Hilux front brakes

G'day, I'm about to start my brake upgrades but I'm not sure how the 4WD hilux brakes will fit as I've never seen them. If anyone can post some info or pics it would be much appreciated.

    Toyota Landcruiser 4 piston caliper

    or these

    cheers,

    Peter

Another alternative (with some mod work required) is Nissan R32 front calipers and rotors. You need to get the centres machined to make them slightly larger to fit the Hilux hub, and a 20mm spacer to realign the caliper over the disc but I'm told they bolt up OK otherwise. Not a lot of work for excellent brake package.

I think the Landcruiser setup is much heavier but can't confirm. I'm currently rebuilding the R32 setup for my RN85.

infotechplus: do you have any more info on those brakes? Do they bolt onto the stock Hilux hub? What rotors do i need to use?

The Landcruiser calipers bolt holes are approx. 90mm but the Hilux (eg. my RN85) are 100mm so they would require some work eg. a mounting bracket.

    Cheers,

Hi Peter, you don't happen to know the bolt spacing on those last two cruiser calipers you have pictured there? The FJ80 and FZJ80 (I would assume the caliper bolt spacing is the same on those two calipers pictured??)

Interesting, the way those pics look it appears the bolt spacing is greater than the spacing on the caliper in the first pic

Thats handy to know, hopefully my RZN149 hubs have the same 100mm spacing. Would mean that the Z32/R32 calipers should bolt up, with some appropriate discs for brake upgrade.

Yeah, R32 calipers (which are the same casting as Z32) are 100mm spacing.

Anyone know of any macpherson type strut tubes with the 100mm spacing? Or know if the Hilux caliper brackets are a bolt-on type, or if they are welded/cast to the hub/spindle.

    Yes.

    The mods are:

Enlarge the centre to allow the R32 rotors to slip over the Hilux axle stubs; and,
Create a 20mm spacer to shift the caliper centre over the rotor (bolt pattern on the caliper is the same as Hilux)

    Cheers,

    Peter

i'd rep you again, but i've already repped you infotechplus. Great info!

What size wheel would you need? does the stock 14" still slip over or not?
What of brake lines as well?
