I can see why you had your calipers upside down 1J. That was our problem too!

    Why?

Because Nissan have labelled them L and R. However, on the Nissan GT-R the calipers are on the front of the rotor and this puts the bleed nipple at the top. The same orientation on the Lux puts the bleed nipple at the bottom. No Good!

You have to have the bleed nipple uppermost to correctly bleed the brakes.

Took it for a drive a couple of laps of the block. Beautiful. This is a great swap for not much effort.

Backs locked up initially, but after three laps and some hard braking the front right locked and then a couple of more laps and they were more balanced.

I'd say run the rotors/calipers in over about 100Km or so (arbitary figure not based on any science ) and everything should be schweeet!

Cheers, and thanks to everyone who offered advice.

Thanks for the replies guys, it should be all sorted and the Lux back on the road by Wednesday.

Peter I think Ecothech is talking about the load sensing slave cylinder at the back of the car. I'm going to remove mine when I do the back brakes as when the car is lowered it will cause problems and its not needed anymore.

"load sensitive proportioning valve" - and you can't just 'remove' it... otherwise you will have *WAY* too much rear brake.. just bend the springy arm, so its in the right place..

you get two brake pressure gauges one on the front one on the rear and press the brake up to a certain pressure
90kgf/cm i think from memory and then adjust the arm to get the correct pressure in the back
you cannot just remove it or your rears will just lock and spin you round in a circle you just have to adjust it after you lower the car
i just thought since peter is towing a race car he may need to adjust it so when the car is on the back he still doesnt get normal unweighted brake pressure from the back just relying on the front brakes to pull him up with a trailer on the back

I should have specified that I was going to get a brake shop to remove it and set the bias to suit the R32 front/MA70 rear.

Well its taken me a lot longer then it should have but I've finally got the R32 GTS-t brakes fitted. The only real problem I encountered with this upgrade is the width of the calipers make it difficult to fit wheels.

Here's the photos of it finished, there's also one that shows what I'm talking about.
Here's the hub after it's been machined. The diameter is now @ 10-20mm narrower.

    Here's the brakes completed.

This is the amount that the caliper sticks out past the face of the center of the rotor/hub. It's 40mm and meant my old mags wouldn't fit. The side of the caliper was hitting on the back of the spokes.

I hope to do an article detailing all the steps needed to be done but time isn't something I have a lot of at the moment so stand by to stand by.

On the note of me putting the calipers on upside down, they were on the correct sides. R32s had the calipers on the front side and the Hilux has them on the back side. For anyone who doesn't know, Ignore what side the calipers are labeled with and just make sure that the bleed valve is always at the top.

just got some info out of a Ebay thread i had saved a while ago about this guys brake upgrade on his modded RN41 lux. didnt see any pix of what it looked like all put togethor.. but its another option coz it worked on this blokes ride.
Standard diff housing with 3.7 ratio gears out of 2004 Hilux. Surf LSD.

The brakes have been upgraded from standard. Front has 323mm ventilated disc rotors off Supra. Front calipers are V8 BA Falcon. Rear has 286 ventilated rotors off XF Falcon. Rear calipers are ZD Fairlane. All brake lines have been costume made with ADR approved braided hose.

Costume made... LOL. Are the brake lines wearing a fuel line costume??

It's always good to have a few options to choose from. It's a pity that there were no photos of these brakes.

The R32 brakes haven't really turned out to be the best choice. Considering that very few rims will fit over the R32 GTS-T calipers they are more trouble then the better braking is worth. To get a pair of load rated rims over these you'd probably have to get them custom made.

I'm also changing over to the R33GTSt calipers and BA rotors, possibly with custom billet hubs.
