We normally travel there on Friday then home on Monday. Alot of people leave on Sunday afternoon though.
Best advice it to check out the nationals website and see what is planned for what day.
    LAst year was
Friday night - Welcome and fingerfood dinner
    Saturday - show n shine
    Sunday - Drags
Sunday night - formal dinner and presentation
    then home on Monday

Yah, as the map above shows it's not exactly "just down the road" from anywhere in Sydney.. But I think we can all agree the event is eleventy billion times better for that fact
    Cheers,

There's always insects on the road - a few weeks before the event, go to bunnings and grab a roll of plastic (not wire!) flyscreen - then on the day you head off, attach some to the front of the car with supacrap zip-ties.

you do realise that they are referring to a plague, not just 1 or 2??

couple of yrs ago my whole grill was getting covered with locusts driving to and from work!

When it's 9 hours of driving - half of that thru western grain/cotton growing country - there's thousands of bugs to drive thru. Whether it's locust plagues or plain old insect-meet-mister-car-headlights splatter, the more you can do to keep them off the car is a good thing.
