Default Cut and shut 4age clearance issues??

I'm getting a smallport 4age on the weekend and have a cut and shut done on the intake manifold to get it in my ae86.

May be a silly question but i read in an article that this can cause clearance issues between the bonnet and vertical part of the runners.

Im a newb when it comes to this stuff and no older threads really gave me specific info.

    Thanks
    Rob

if you jump on ae86drivingclub i'm sure one of those blokes can help you out as they have alot of 4a-ge conversions into ae86's including 100kw 4a-ge's with cut n shut manifolds.

Why would it make clearance issues.

If your just moving the TB to the other side the height will be the exact same as facing fwd.

Just chop him at an angle, if it's not clear as to how much you need to go, you can always put the engine in the car and drop the manifold on last.

Much easier out of the car tho.

By eyeball I guess I cut them at about 10 deg, I think straight up and down would still fit, but its easier to run the hose off it when at an angle.

the standard RWD one is pointed down at an angle, when you cut and shut a FWD manifold it does get closer to the bonnet, for example my air intake hose clamp band has worn a hole in the bonnet bracing (i used really thick radiator hose to joint up the pipe elbows)

angle it down slightly if you can, but as long as you dont point it up you should be fine. just use som common sense and you wont have any issues.
