Most I'd go on a V8 IS is a nice charger like the Blitz kit to give it a bit more power but keep it a cruiser.
Plus it'd be the missus daily hahaha. I can't get away with having two project cars.
The whole reason to go v8 is to have a nice road car with a clear line in the sand to stop spending money and modifying at. Turbos kinda move that line a fair way - and you'd probably go 1/2J instead.
If i was to go an IS it wouldn't be the balls-out track car. At least that's my argument and i'm sticking to it.

So where's your turbo then RONA? Imagine the skid show you could of put on at DubboOriginally Posted by RONA
Rona does not have moneys for those sorts of shenanigans. Supercharged kits are appealing but way too much money for the gains involved.

LOL - this is the reasoning I originally had for getting the V8 Soarer instead of a TT Soarer and look where it got meOriginally Posted by -GT-
That was kinda the words i was channelling; i've heard you say them often enough.
Where your plan fell down was that you didn't have a second car for the weekends and track days.

Any chance you'd be able to sell a copy of the engine spacers and exhaust manifold if required Mos?
I'm planning on getting a nice 3UZ front cut about the time we get an IS later this year, although it'll probably be a fair while of parts accumulating and planning before anything happens with it.

after all that i take the the only option for a vic reg 02 is200 is to find a 02+ 3uz? LS/GS/SC430 wreck? anyone actually bought anything similar recently? prices?
awesome thread, my favourite is

1JZ-GTE VVTi were sold in Verossa's until 2003.
2JZ-GTE VVTi were sold in Aristo's until 2004.
So 3UZ isn't the only option, although most likely the only "affordable" Toyota made V8.

yeah, really want the compact weight balance, biggest NA capacity, and smoooth toyota v8, plus possibility of supercharging for stupid amounts of rwkw in an is200 (sleeper...) is nice...
is there truth to what the above website says about a 02is and 02gs/sc being mostly a plug in job?
he even combined the tranny from the donor is300!
LPG injection on 3UZ yet?
