    Default Problems getting diff reinstalled.

    Hey all.

Last night I went to swap a better diff into my ma61. Removal was much of a problem. But on the reinstall I couldn't get all the bolt holes to line up. Is there some special method to getting this right? I'm going to try pulling it out and reseating it, but was very frustrating last night, and a bit concerning with only two bolts holding the diff onto the subframe

    Cheers!

its a bitch to get that damn thing back in. just man handle it, and it will respond. it may take the weight of the whole car to push it into position, but thats ok

Hrmm, when I changed the diff on my ma61 I had no problems getting it back in....Everything lined up with no worries. I had the car on stands and was using a trolley jack to get the diff into position though, so maybe that helped...

was the diff sitting perfectly flat when you were jacking it up? i think this my be part of my problem... i was jacknig it up on the trolley jack, but i think the angle was on a slight rotation.

As flat as I could make it I guess. Was about 5 years ago that I did it. Basically I jacked it up in increments and started putting bolts in where i could, but not tightly, and then just lining everything up until all the bolts were in. Was then a matter of just doing everything up. And this is after bending my rear suspension, so if yours is all straight I would expect it to be just as easy!

I remember it being a PITA on the few occasions I've done it, but I always got it in after a suitable amount of manly effort and cursing. Just keep at it, and remember to be a MAN.

being manly got all but 3 bolts in. Although not ideal... better than none. I suspect the cradle is warped or bent as I had to use a massif G clamp to the the middle set of bolts in. Sigh... next time I'm taking off the rear sub frame.

That's great James that you are doing your diff... When your free, you can help me

Do hope you can fix the rear cradle, you can swap the whole rear subframe (As your not lacking of any)...

    Cheers.

I've never found them especially hard to get in.. Methinks something be wonky on car somewhere if it's hard. I've only ever used a screwdriver to lever them out, and force of arms to get them back in.
