i'm booked for the nites of 14-16th - see you nerds there on the friday sometime.

Am not entering any competitions but will be blabbing to all-and-sundry about my MSquirt-powered RA40 if it's running by then.

Queenslanders: anyone interested in going down as a bunch/mob - to arrive sometime on the Friday? Suggestions for starting time/date and route?

It would be nice to travel with some fellow Toyota Car Club (Qld) members as well as geeks from here.

i'll start another thread in the Qld section if it gets lost in the haze of this thread.

    Guys/Girls,

A few answers to your questions:

Parking: The Matilda is basically split into 2 sections. The front is where most of the rooms are and there is one car park for each room plus about 14 spares around the pool area. The rear of the Matilda is the executive rooms and access is via the rear lane. Again, there is one parking space per room plus about 6 spares. The rear access has a security gate too.

Parking was a problem in 2004 and the Matilda has already asked that no trailers are to be parked in the car park for that reason (I will get that put onto the website). Next door is Skefco Bearings and I am going to ask them if we can use the car park for trailers. I’ll also make an announcement on the Friday night to ask everyone to be considerate and not pinch others parks outside of designated rooms.

Security: I have contacted Dubbo Tourism and problems with the locals is confined to an estate on the outskirts of town and nowhere even remotely close to where we will be. In all the years we’ve been going to Dubbo there has never been any incidents with the locals or damage to cars. That said, we are currently getting pricing for a security patrol on Saturday and Sunday nights just to play it safe.

Show and shine: The ‘No dents etc’ rule is a bit over the top. It’s really a carry over from when the last SNS was held at Toyota and we wanted to maintain a standard. This time I’ll leave it up each person to decide if they want to put their car in the SNS. If you want to display your car because it is show quality, original, unique or a feat of engineering excellence then go right ahead.

Drags: The scrutineering requirements are really just a common sense approach to safety. Basically if a car wouldn’t pass rego then it won’t be allowed on the track. They are not interested in blinkers, wipers, headlight etc, just the important stuff like oil/water leaks, steering, wheel bearings, brakes, body damage (that may injure someone due to sharp edges), radiator overflow bottle (which most cars already have), tailshaft loop if required, secured battery and nothing hanging down under the car.

    Hope that helps.

There should be a map of where everything is in Dubbo on the Toyota Nationals website. If there isn't now, there should be soon *looks at nathan*
Failing that, you are given a map upon arrival

Thanks for answering all the queries Grant, tis most appreciated!

There are now quite a few maps on the website, although we are trying to get a decent tourist map from the Matilda at the moment, what we have though is *cough Witzl* some maps of the right city

    http://www.toyota-nationals.org.au/html/accom.htm

    I'd also recommend www.whereis.com.au
