    Default Rn110 hilux 1GGZE conversion

    Hi all,

Finally my projest is under way

Extra cab hilux 4wd RN 110 1GGZE conversion

i have owned this ute for about 6 years now running on duel fuel and am finally doing a conversion am so over the 22r especially on gas! .

So after tossing up between what engine to use i finally decided on staying with toyota and got my hands on a 1ggze pretty cheap ecu loom bell housing mounts and flywheel (engine was auto origanally as the guy i bought it from imported it for a project but never got around to it but bought most of the bits.) which makes it easier for me .

Am currently sorting out the wiring as i want this to be a quick changeover as the car is my daily driver so hoepfully will have everything sorted as much as possible before i swap engines over. although i dont have a gze wiring diagram (if any one has one it would be awesome) but am coping so far with the gte diagrams a couple of differences but pretty much the same.

Just thought introduce myself and say a big hello and thank you to everyone here at toymods as i have been go through your forums and found so much information so far .
but if any one has any info that they would like to pass on and think it will help.

i will post some pics as i go here is engine currently

    Need some help.

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the gen 3 1ggze or knows what the IPE pin is for I have found a link for it with sixworks but site doesnt work , And cant find it anywhere on the forum.

I am not sure but as far as i can tell the turbo model has an indicator light on the dash and as this is the same pinout on the gze i assume it is for the same sort of thing but not sure.

    I'm doing a 1G-GZE (3rd Gen, 70,000kms) into a RN85 2WD.

I've got a couple of 3Y engine mounts as recommended and the two top holes line up but the bottom two don't so I assume you have to re-drill. Also having trouble finding a flywheel. The 2T-GE lines up for the bolt holes and diameter but I'm told the contact area is too small for the power of the 1G.

I'm using the original clutch from the 22R but will be buying new Exedy Sports Tuff version to replace the standard one.

How far have you gone with the conversion? I'd like to talk to you about some of the issues involved in this swap.

I have Gen 3 pinouts for the GTE if required.

    Regards,

    Peter

thanks guys but i already have the gte wiring and have gotten most of my wiring sorted from that info.

Its the IPE wire that has me stumped still so if anybody has any idea's

infotechplus would be happy to share ideas with you but am still in the how the &^%$ am i going get this done !!! stage with conversion not enough hours in the day at the moment.

not sure on the clutch or flywheel yet sorry . when i bought the engine it had a flywheel on it so i have no idea what its off i am just going to take it to a clutch joint and get them to match it up and if it doesnt hold up ill change it then .
i believe the diesel clutch has been used by a bloke in w.a. but that was with an 80's model 4runner and he used 22r mounts.

what was the outer diameter of your contact area ?

Contact area of original 22R flywheel is 41mm., with 298mm diameter (tooth to tooth), 41mm centre opening, and 63mm spacing between opposite bolts.

The 1G requires 57mm bolt spacing and a 37mm centre opening.

I've extracted the 1GGZE wiring diagram from the Japanese only manual. The IPE wire is labelled there. Does it help you?

thanks infotech yeh i have that one but still no good thats the gen 1 or 2 wiring i think.

I went to the wreckers today to try and find some plugs for the wiring loom as it only had the male side for most of them and i want it to look as original as possible and was suprised to find that 92 cressida with 7m has same wiring to ecu and all the other plugs match up ok some wires are different in spots in the plugs but thats easy to change.

clutch info geez im a dumb arse sometimes

i am trying to find the forum where the 4runner guy did the conversion his name is sukpupy am almost 100% sure he used a diesel clutch.

Yeah I also found him earlier tonight and downloaded all his photos from his site just to convince myself that it's possible.

I did a testfit today and geez it's tight in the RN85 engine bay.

I've got a very thin radiator from a Nissan - I think I'll need it.
