what exactly about the mounts is in need of modifying for you? These are steel mounts not cast alloy things i hope (the later will be useless to you).

if you are swapping engine mounts from front to mid positions (or vice versa) then you will have to do some minor surgery to them (weld up the holds then re-drill so you can bolt them to the engine.

You will probably find the turbo side fowls with the oil drain and you'll need to modify that mount with an angle grinder and then a welder (the small brace will be in the way).

Yes it would seem we have the alloy mounts.
We also have a midmount position bracket.
Perhaps we have not chosen the best donor but we are half way through the job. We were thinking of modding the 21R-c engine mounts to bolt onto the 1G-GTE and using a spacer and longer bolts to make up the difference in height location.

Rob, we should be right with the mount stuff, but we NEED a wiring diagram for the thing...its suppose to be gen 3 but i dunno, just going of the pale green injectors.
the one I got of this site is not the one we need so iof we could get a set for gen1,2,3 it would be good

OK. So we have cut off the engine mounts off the crossmember and are in the process off re cutting the angles and repositioning the mounts to suite the 1g-gte engine mounts. If someone has some specs for these (ie someone once said photo's) this would save some stuffing around. Thanks too all who have been helping us with this ill planned and short termed project.

engine has been trial fitted, and apart from possible rubbing on the bonnet it is one hell of a tight fit. I have been helping "termite" with this conversion. Thankyou to everyone who has been of assistance during this project your help has been greatly recieved.

Hello All, Test Drove car at 8psi, smooth as, hardly even broke traction, hit 100km/h in 2nd gear in about 6-7sec. car is so quiet the only thing that gives it away is the internal wastegate going off.

car exceeds expectations and we have yet to try it at 16psi.

I'd appreciate any advise people are willing to give.

Big-ass single turbo. ECU. LSD...and a 4 point harness to hold yourself in

Out of curiosity, do you have any pics of all the mounts and stuff you arranged?

    Cheers,

Yeah I got some pics, but i don't know how to post them, i can email them to anyone who's interested tho.

It seems the speedo drive gear is incorrect for our diff, and we gotta modify our tacho so it reads the correct rpm's as the engine is only doing 5333rpm when it reads 8000rpm.

Also the booste on the primary turbo is smooth to 5psi but the second cuts in a bit quick and can cause traction issues not to mention wear on the turbine. If anyone has any tips for softening the boost on the second turbo would love to hear it.

Hmm... turbos should be parallel, not sequential. Something doesn't sound right.

Not sure how you go about converting a 6cyl tacho signal into a 4cyl one.

They are parallel turbos - it's just how things work

The 1G-GTE is a little "light switch" like in power when it comes on boost.

Yeah I thought they were parallell at first to, but there is some sneaky air chambers inside that manifold which route the air back through the back turbo and spool it up before a wastegate opens and feeds the air through the front turbo.

And we found a leak in the boost hoses which we fixed but we still only getting 9psi. Would love to hear advise on controlling booste.

    Nah, they are parallel

9psi sounds about right - depends on the wastegates.
