Default Amazing new Eaton Supercharger - TVS

    Hi ,
I thought I'd share this with you lot (me being a supercharger addict and all). This has got me very excited.

    http://www.eatonperformance.com/superchargers/TVS.html

There are some impressive compressor maps for these superchargers here too.
The SC's are capable of 1.4bar boost. They have peak adiabatic efficiency over 70% AMAZING stuff - and they are not twin screw! The rotor have 160degs of twist. So basically twin screw efficiency with Rootes parastic drag, and hopefully cheaper than twin screws!

    Cheers, Nick

Oh Feral, you won't budge from that laggy leaf blower (turbo) will you even if it is more efficient than my egg-beater (rootes blower)...

dont get me wrong, i do like the egg beaters (not taking the one out of the lil feral). and i like the leaf blowers too. so i guess i will have to combine the two.
but my post above was lots of alcohol induced last night and didnt mean anything to the cause of this thread.

    Hi,
That looks nearly as good a the 2TZ-FZE blower I just bought

    Cheers

Might have to buy one of those superchargers for extra fun with the 2jz-ge

    thats interesting.....
4 lobes for smaller packets of air discharged....
but still the compression occurs in the manifold, not in the SC.. so the higher pressure ratio comes from better sealing?

i am very interested to see what the temp rise would be for 2-2.4 pressure ratio.. that will make or break it against the twinscrew.... and the power losses...

dunno that it is much easier to manufacture than a twinscrew... obviously a bit, but being so twisted.. still hard

it may not have some of the clearance issues associated with twin screws ? slightly larger clearances = less precision manufacturing = cheaper / easier to make ?

    just a thought.

    Hi,
Although the supercharger is ' external compression' like any other Rootes, the key the high efficiency seems to be the way the air is delivered to the high pressure side, i.e. smooth and controlled. The effect of higher pressure air rushing in and compressing the air packet that is from the low pressure side has obviously been reduced, because the 'fresh' packets are introduced 'end first' into the High Press area, HP air is forced to travel in a controlled fashion down a helix to compress the Low Press air.

I imagine clearances are quite tight for this charger as this affect VE directly and leakage impacts heavily on AE...

You can probably calculate the outlet temp based on Adiabatic efficiency, presssure ratio and inlet air temp. With the numbers posted this supercharger appears to be similar in performance to a twin screw at lower boost (less that 1.2 bar boost or 2.2 Abs).

    Regards, Nick
