just make it fit, its not hard to bash the tunnel...
what your talking about is a very big doller convertion and one i thought about doing myself
but the sum's just never made it worth the money
but in saying that it would be very fun
Has anyone done this . I know 3S motor will fit , have a question as to the 6 speed going in, or does the tunnel need massaging out to take the box & bell housing.Cheers D

Apart from fitting the gearbox into the tunnel I reckon the biggest problem would be getting the engine under the bonnet - Mine only just fits under my AE-86 lid!
I mean, we had to cut away some of the ribbing on the underside of the bonnet to clear the top of the engine and also lower the crossmember about 10mm.
The bottom of the sump is also lower than the typical car jack, so it's pretty low ...
Yeh... you do know that a Beams 3S + Gearbox goes for around $6k right?
Ive found a BEAMS with box, loom & ecu for $4500 in adelaide & money not a big issue ive spent $34000 on my GT4 ,so basicly its whether a left of field beams conversion is worth it as i know i could do a 4AGZE conversion with box ,rear end ,brakes & suspension for around that money & add a turbo & get as good or better KW's . the guys i bought my KE from have 2 KE30 improved tourers with 3SGTE's in em so ill run a tape over them after the holiday break to check fit.thanks for ur input. cheers D
Id love to have your money to do up my RA23 to 3SGTE with 6Speed altezza box conversion. Aside from that, You can make anything fit. You could use the powerbulge idea (see RA23/28 bonnet) to fit the motor under. And yeah... cutting and welding is your trans tunnels best friend The beams motor is a wonder of modern motoring with its power and grace... so i say go for it, should be a beauty when finished.

I daresay that if you are in SA and talking about 3SGTEd KE35s then you would be talking about the Sharp boys. They post on here under the nick "charged".
Good luck with that conversion, ive been considering it in my AE86 if i end up going up a class for IPRA.

takai you cant use a 6speed so you would have to disinguage 1st from working then you would be fine
Yeah, i was just going to mate it to a W58 with a custom bellhousing.

yeh Takai, was the sharp bros (nice cars). The BEAMS KE30,s a reasonable size project. I,ll post up progess if i go ahead. cheers D.
Yeah, if you do go ahead i woudlnt mind having a look when you put the engine in if you dont mind. Especially that i could consider the possiblity of running one myself, unless i go straight up into Overs.

what is Overs
overs as in over 2 litre class
Oops, keep forgetting not everyone knows the lingo. Improved Production is split mainly into 2 classes, Under2L and Over2L, aka, unders and overs. There is also U1600, U2L, O2L etc.

any particular reason for using a KE30 chassis? is it just becasue you have it there? a ke70 would be alot better as far as setting up a decent suspension setup unless you plan on converting the rear of the KE30 to 4link which i would LOVE to see
