Default wheels studs - looking for longer

    G'day all,

i am looking for longer wheels studs.
i have ms65 hubs and original studs. i was wondering if anyone knows if different toyotas or other cars use studs with the same pitch and head etc, but different legths.

i know you can get after market ones, i went in and looked at em today. but they are way too long. i dont want to cut them down as they are never as easy to get started.

    and help would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Stew

How much longer are you looking? I have aftermarket studs for a Magna, they're longer, but I don't know which ones you were talking about if they're that long.

    Heya,

i am chasing bout 6 to 10 mm longer, to better suit the rims i am using.

the aftermarket ones i found were bout 30mm longer- arp i think or something like that.

    Cheers

Even if you had to cut down aftermarket ones, just get someone to taper and chamfer the ends of them a little bit with a lathe they'd be fine to get started.. or even easier if you don't want to go to that trouble, just put a nut on the stud before you cut it, file it around the edges after cutting, then when you back the nut off it again it will re-cut the thread and they'll be easy to start..

Thanks for all the replies guys.....

i have been down to toyota, then to a wheel shop, then finally to repco...

have now found what i am after.

the studs in them are s340 -
    knurl 14.1mm
    length 40.2mm

the ones i have ordered are s312 -
    knurl 14.3mm
    length 46.1mm

the long stud listed for the s340 part is s3400 the same as is listed for the s312, so we called the manufacturer up regarding the difference in the knurl sizing and they rechon it will be fine....
by the way the long studs were around 73mm long if anyone was interested.

thanks again for your help guys.....

    Cheers

    hey,

    just a quick update,

the 14.3 knurl does fit where the 14.1mm knurl was.

it just takes alot more bashing.

i know the other size fits better because they accidently gave me one of them in my set. it was in the correct packaging to match the set i bought, but the part number stamped on the top was different.

i only noticed because of how much easier it went in!!!!

    so back to repco tomorrow

    cheers

FYI I have S312 on the front (as do most who have upgraded to Nissan brakes) and S315 on the rear.

Both fit fine, albeit a struggle to get them in, but then they wont come out.

The fronts were no issue, the rears however...
