    Default Why change posts?

Just wondering why the mods feel the need to change the original post in threads they lock?

Is this a new thing or something as I haven't really noticed it before?
Why not just lock or delete the post instead of going to the trouble of changing the thing as well.

    Just wondering.

Without knowing specifics, maybe its because the content of the original thread doesn't meet guidelines that we want.
Sometimes we leave locked edited threads behind to serve as a reminder and warning to others to not follow suit.

The moderators have made a decision to alter posts, lock them and leave them as examples for others to learn from.

No one learns or understands the reasons behind a locked and deleted thread.

Alas, even then, some people don't learn.

you will find at least one of the ones that you have mentioned had the video clip removed from it.
these threads take up alot of space and now that Toymods only has limited space alot of the "look what I found on the internet" will not be tolerated.

If people must do that then why not someone make a look what I found thread? Everything can be centralised there. Maybe this will save some bandwith. Just an idea...

    Hi,

Unfortunately that would only encourage more people to put in a simple link to something they found on the net. It would rapidly expand as more people put in frivolous links to point to more crap.

Personally, I don't mind if you find something of interest in the big wide wonderful world of the internet. However, I don't like a post that merely has a link in it. If you have found something of interest then surely you can also put in some supportive or argumentive words in regard to the link in an endeavour to foster some healthy debate and discussion.

This assumes the link is worthy and not some tart who flaunts herself on a web cam, or any other inane link that is not regarded as suitable for Toymods - which is ostensibly a car forum.

We all like to have "time off" from car talk and to have some laughs and discussions on other topics, and that is why we have the "Non Car Discussion" area, but it is not to be regarded as the "free for all - anything goes" type of subject and dialogue that was allowed in the "Outhouse" section of the old forums.

I thought the one I posted would have been interesting/suitable but obviously not.

I fully understand where you are coming from and couldn't agree more with the bit I quoted above. Just a thought is all.
