    Default Flat View of forums

    Hey

Is it possible to have a flat view of the forums ala the old ones? Its anoying now trying to find forums for things like the interstate forums etc (i didnt know they were there till i was clicking through everything)

Dont get me wrong, the current click through hierarchical interface is fine, but the option of a flat view similar to the forums of old would be good. It just gets anoying clicking through 3 different pages to get to a certain section. Even a list of "sub forums" like ive seen on other forums eg: overclockers. Just to make it a single click to get to sub forums rather than 3 clicks

Good tip. But it would also be good to configure this in the main window.

If the text below the Cruises and Events section coudl be changed to the below it would work:
    Code:
    Cruises and Events (x Viewing)
    Official Cruises and Events. Sub-forums for Inter-state events: <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15">ACT</a> | <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16">Qld</a> | <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17">Vic</a> | <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18">SA</a> | <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19">WA</a> | <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20">NT</a> | <a href="http://www.toymods.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=21">Tas</a>
    It woudl look like:
    Code:
    Cruises and Events (x viewing)
Official Cruises and Events. Sub-forums for Inter-state events: ACT | Qld | Vic | SA | WA | NT | Tas
It would certainly make the forums easier to use for the interstaters, and promote the usefulness of the club interstate.

Good suggestion and I have implemented it.

As to the layout of the forum it is a bit of a club image thing really. On the old forum the classifieds really dominated the view you had of the forum on the front page. We wanted to have the more important parts of the forum have equal billing to the ancilliaries like classifieds. For this reason the decision was to have a parent forum for each "area" of the forum and then split those into sub-forums if needed.

Josh, nice work ont he front page. Only i think you have copied and pasted the wrong code. The top code block has the HTML for the links, wheras the bottom code block was just a preview.

I think Josh only meant it as text to give an indication that there were subforums.

Can this please be implemented with active links, because it is quite frustrating when you want to look in your own state and have to click through 2 or 3 sub-forums to get to your state sub-forum!

If there is an explanation for this to remain implemented without the active links, then that's fine, I just can't think of a reason myself...

If it's not to be implemented on the main forum page then maybe it could at least have them with active links in the first sub-forum where it is across the top!
