BTW fella who is looking at my old turbo is running 1jz-ge cams in his 1jz hilux that has run 12.8X on stock twins. I will see what he had to do in the end to get them in there.
Does he have power graphs of 1JZ-GE cams in his 1JZ-GTE, vs the stock cams? I'd be guessing you would gain down low but lose up top.

I'd love to see both graphs overlaid on each other, but thats a pipe dream lol

?? I lost the fellas details. I would think it would be the opposite as n/a cars usually have more duration. Duration increases top end at the expense of low end in a turbo car.

Take a look at my thread on SC. I was also thinking it would be OK, but I see Cihan's point about possible long term issues.

Apparently they actually started the engine with the cam cover off and saw all the oil pissing out the side of the cam journal where the hole doesn't line up. This would mean a loss in oil pressure for the cam journals. If other people are doing it with no probs there is probably enough pressure there still. But it will be easy for us to widen the offending oil gallery slot when we machine the other part.

It looks like he went super conscientious on the mods he done to the cams because he will be selling a whole heap and doesn't want any issues with people hurting their engines. He went to the trouble of adding material in places and everything. This is probably overkill IMO. But Cihan doesn't seem to be the type of guy to leave anything to chance, specially when he is selling it.

Dennis did you end up finding out if the oil gallery needed to be drilled or modified in order to complete this swap...

I have a set of 2jz-gte JDM spec cams and i want to put these into my 1jz...
also have a spare set of 1jz cams to help whoever i get machine them measure what is different that needs to change but the measurements in this thread should help...

probably digging up an old topic though but chriss all your pics are not working for me on here...i am at work though so could just be blocked... will check at home sometime soon...

so for anyone who has done the swap how successful has it been?

EDIT: ive been banned and IP banned on SC so cannot look at your thread over there... their site moderator is rather nazi and unprofessional...

so just checking the date on how old this thread is i would assume you have done this by now?

if so how did it all go?

nah I sold the cams in the end. Have a look on www.soarercentral.com though as Cihan ended up posting a back to back dyno. Probably under mechanical - TT section.

as stated in my previous post ive been banned and IP banned from SC as Peter Nitschke has a nazi attitude and wont answer simple questions regarding their for sale section rules

I cant even remember what we done, if you have read this thread recently you prob know more than me. All I know is it was done years ago and everything appears to be fine. We didn't go to anywhere near the lengths as Cihan did with his cams. Just took a bit of metal off one and maybe chamfered the oil gallery a bit. All piss easy with a lathe.

    Sorry for thread revival,

Currently considering this mod but I'm trying to wrap my head around what needs to be machined. Looking at the pictures it looks like the length was altered but the post above mentions a lathe implying the circumference needed to be altered.

    Cheers,
