I cant help you with the manual for solex's, in my opinion, u should ditch the solex's anyway...
But, for the tuning, the 18RG twincam doesnt need any special tuning, it would be jsut the same as the pinto. Twin carby's, u might have meant, cause thats more important when tunning it.
If u dont get a better reply, basically what you do it, get the engine to idle on 1 carby, then the other one, then back them off together. Then do the main jets the same way. Proper multi carb tuning is done with vacuum readers and pressure sensors and fuel mixture sensors, id suggest taking it to a dyno shop to get that done.

    Hi,

I put a whole stack (100+) images of the 18R/18R-G engine on these forums. Alas, last week the hosting service I used has died and I don't know when (or if) it's coming back up.

So, my images are non-existent at the moment. I'm currently going through them and uploading them to a new hosting service so they'll be available again.

Tuning twin-cams isn't hard. The hardest part is getting all those carbs tuned to perfection - it's a real art to get it done properly.

...i think u meant "how to tune individual carburettors, so ill continue with that.
If some one could post a pic of which screw are for which jets i could tell you more, but the spring loaded screws closest to the manifold will be the idle mixture, and the throttle idle should be easy to see (it is jsut a screw that pushes on the throttle) - i assume.

Something that will help, when you have tuned them all, and you are happy with it, run it for 10 mins or so, and then check the spark plugs. You should get a good idea on the mixture from the colour/residue

From looking at Rivers pics, and identifying parts as jets and what not, ive come up with this pic for ya. I cant really tell if its right though, cause its hard to line things up with exploided views. If someone could post a pic of the top of the complete carby i could be of more help, but here is somthing u can give a try. First jsut see if it looks kinda right, then trial and error should correct any mistakes.

    Hi,

Okay dokey..... I checked through and scanned a few pages from one of my 18RG manuals. The images aren't the clearest in areas, but I think are good enough for you to read and understand. Hope this helps you.....

thanks river, ill be gettin onto that asap!
one more thing, how much would a celica 5 speed set me back? small fords parts has one for $500 but i heard you could pick one up for about $50-$150...
i got a sprinter 4 speed in there ATM but its too inefficient in high gears and free way cruising etc... will i have to change up the bell housing or crossmember to fit one up?
    so how and how much?
    thanks once again

    Hi,

It depends on what 5-speed box you're after. There's the T50 which is for your 1600cc type engine, the W50 for the 2litre engines, and the W58 for the bigger HP engines. Each of these boxes can handle a bit more power than what they were put behind - the above was just a very rough giude for you.

The T50 and W50 boxes can be had for bugger-all up to $200, depending on their condition. The W58 can go for more.

It depends on how many horses your engine is going to be generating and the car you have.

You can check the For Sale section on these forums, and even go to the Wanted section and ask for one and maybe somebody will have one for sale.

Dont you already have a W50?
Just to clearify what river said, there are two types of box's that celica's have, a T50 (weak) and a W50 (stronger), generally a "celica box" is a W50, which is mid 70's to early 80's.
After mid 80's they had a W58 or 7 or somthing, but they are usually called Supra boxes.
The sprinter box is a T50, so dont use it. T50 is generally known as a corolla box btw.
And yes it would need new bellhousing, clutch assembly and cutsom gearbox mounts. It probably wont fit ur tail shaft length either, W50's might be longer.
If you are interested in rebuilding a W50, you cant buy kits, you jsut buy all the parts through toyota, jsut ring you closest toyota dealer.

    hey guys,
i was sifting through rivers' http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4965 (1st Gen Celica Transmissions Diagrams (T40, T50, W40, W50 & P51) )thread and it was quite helpful....
but im worried about how much it might cost to get a 5 speed in there and how much mucking around there might be...
lets start from square one (from the engine to gear box to tailshaft to diff)

    1. Toyota 18rg-(u?) (88253)
    2. Sprinter 4 speed
    3. Cressida tailshaft
    4. RS2000 diff

here is a quick look at the engineers certificate

    </center>

what will i have to do to get a W50 in there instead of the sprinter box with the 18rg there?
    thanks alot guys!
